I've been using this load for my Remington 700 SPS Tactical:

168 grain Sierra Matchkings
2.80" OAL
Winchester Large Rifle primers
42.5 grains IMR 4064
2575 FPS

This load is very accurate in my rifle, but I'm wanting to switch to 175 grain bullets so I can stretch the rifle's legs a bit. Any advice as to what to change? OAL? Powder load?

Work it up from min-max.

Different bullet weight Requires different load data and powder charge.
Go to Hodgdon and get New Different data.

42.0 gr is a decent but stout load for the 175 gr bullet.  It may not be max but it is not a light load.  I have used it with the 175 SMK also use 42.0 with the 190 SMK, so I think it is a reasonable recommendation for a 175 SMK.

As they said, every rifle is different and reloading safely requires you to start a bit lower than 42.0 and work up to it.

If you are looking to stretch the legs a bit, you should also get some of the 190 SMK's.  They are my favorite long range bullet for 308.  My rifle shoots them very well.

Should the COAL be changed? If so, to what?

Since your using a Remington SPS I wouldn't worry too much about the COAL with that big throat just load to mag length.

As for powder you need to drop down 5%-10% then work up a new load.

You don't list what brass your using military or commercial but Federal Gold Metal Match uses 41.7-41.8grs of IMR 4064 in there 175gr load if your using federal brass.

The load that works best in all my 308s (Rem 700 SPS, Isriali Mauser, Indian Enfield, Bosnian M48 and others )

 Lapua brass
 CCI BR2  primer
 175 Sierra MK
 42.2 IMR 4064
COAL-   magazine length ( or for single loading 10 to 15 thou. off lands )(varies in different rifles )

most of the competetors at my gun club are using 42.0 to 43.0gr of IMR 4064 or RE 15
( I have had the best patterns with 4064 at 200,300 and 600 yards )

no pressure signs

What rifle/twist rate do you have?  Barrel length? Velocity?

You've got me curious now.

Remington 40-X, 24" factory barrel with 1/10" twist rate yielded 2600 fps.

Load used:
175SMK seated to 2.230" OAL (relative to my Stoney Point gage with a .308 insert)
Federal 210M primer
Winchester commercial case
sample size = 5
average velocity = 2,598 fps

The 190 SMK shoots so well in my rifle and are only ~25 fps slower, so I adopted those, instead.

I use 178 Hornady Amax occasionally and start with 43 grain of IMR 4064 loaded at 2.88 OAL. I worked up to 43.6 and saw no sign of pressure but it did improve accuracy.
Hornady 178 Amax
43.6 gr IMR 4064
2.88 OAL
FED 210 primer

My next loading will be with measuring the free bore in my SPS. I'll then start over working loads up .2 grain at a time until I get the best accuracy. I've discovered that if I stay at or just below a compressed load with my longer OAL they are very accurate.
I shoot single shot so it doesn't matter that my OAL is longer than what the mag allows.
