Does anyone use this combination for their ARs?

I've run into a bind and can't locate any Tac, Varget, or BLC-2.  These are my normal powders for the 75gr Hornady.

I have access to IMR 4064 and I know there are some loads for it listed on Hogdon's website.  My question is have you used it and if so, what where your experiences with it?  Can you get anywhere near the velocity as with the more popular powders?

It does work but the velocity is fairly low.  You cannot fit enough in the case to make decent velocity, even when loading long and single loading to shoot.

4064 is too slow

If you can't find the usual powders, run down some RL-15.  That will work fine with the 75gr Hornady BTHP

H335 will work too

regardless of the burn rate I do not use any IMR powder in the .223 Rem. it is not worth the trouble to get stick powder in the case, there is plenty of good powders out there  like CFE223, W748, BL-C2, AA2230, H335 and more for the .223 Rem that meter and are much easier to load

I tried and accuracy was geat but speed was'nt all that good. I would put my finger over the mouth and tap the case, this will allow the powder to settle. I went with AA2520, I get the same great accuracy but speed is 2850 from a 18 inch SPR clone....

I'm running 22.5gr of IMR 8208xbr with Hornady 75gr match with great results.  I do not have a chrono though so I'm unsure of velocity.

Lots of powders would be better, this combo falls in to the 'it will work' category.  Small case mouth and longer stick powder equals 'pain in the ass'.  Try to find a .308 shooter who might have something to trade.

I do have about a pound of H335, but always thought it was a bit too fast for 75 grain projectiles.

2850 is smoking for a 75 gr pill.  I'll definitely try to get my hands on some AA2520.

If you don't mind sharing, what were some of your velocities with IMR 4064?

I was mistaken, my load is 2785 with 24.5 grains of AA2520.... I confused the FPS with my 190 grain .30-06 load....
