Just finished loading up 250 rounds of 9mm.  Going to give 150 to my friend so she has some to shoot next time we go to the range.  I load up some more later this week.

did a FART load of 10mm, the water looked like chocolate milk after 3 hours, probably from jeweler's rouge I used to treat walnut media with.  Cases came out clean, no bling, but not off color either, just filthy I guess.

Finished sorting the range pickups from Sunday, mostly 9mm and .223

Received an order of Blue Bullets.

Got my Lee APP running smoother while deprming some 9mm.  Ordered case feeder for it.

Ran a batch of 9mm in my HF wet tumbler and got them in the dehydrator right now.

I got a package from Inline Fabrication today.  I hope to be able to get into the loading room soon and do something.  Recuperation is not fun, and it’s never fast enough.

Cleaned up my bench and did a lil organizing.

Had a little bit more time and deprimed about 150 9mm with the APP.  Can't wait to get the case feeder soon.  Runs really smooth now and the tube is empty in like 10 secs lol

Whoa. I've been thinking about casting the ingots as SCUBA weights in case I need to offload them for some reason. 1#, 2# and 3#. The do make bigger, but I might actually use the smaller ones.

For my contribution, I've been printing stuff to update my Lee Pro 1000. It's been decent for brass prep, but not good for loading. And, since I'm not made of money, I won't be replacing with a bunch of Dillons, like I want to do.

Ordered 1k 62gr pills.  In a week or so will have a long run of 5.56 to make. Brass is prepped, the Dillon Super Swage is a nifty tool.

Loaded my first 5 rounds EVER last night - 25.7gr of BL-C(2) with a hornady 55gr FMJ. Loaded up 4 more groups of 5 today increasing each group by .2 grains, ending at the middle of the range.

Then fired them through my rifle - first shooting I've done in about a year. Felt really nice! And I didn't die, so I must have done some thing right!

Should have 1000 primers coming from UPS tomorrow, so I'm hoping to be loading up a bunch more soon.

Bought 100 Federal SP primers, 2 boxes of CCI Stingers, and a pound of HLVR.

My UFO LED lights showed up today, so I prepped my Lee Turret Press and installed the lights. Very bright! Hopefully the LED strip adhesive will hold up.

Loaded 200 .380 ACP, finishing off a 1lb bottle of Power Pistol. This topped off a .30 cal ammo can, so enough to last me a bit.

Then I took a couple hundred .223 brass I had previously resized and sorted by headstamp.  I had a lot of Federal and Lake City cases, so I put my Hornady primer pocket cutter in the cordless drill and went through all the primer pockets to remove the crimp.

Ran them all through a Wilson case gauge to separate out the ones that need trimming.

Next I’ll trim (as neeed), chamfer and deburr the whole lot, then start priming.

I ordered a caliber conversion kit for 300 WM and a magnum powder bar at some point last night.

I already got a shipping notification from Dillon about 30 minutes ago. Is that normal?

Going to pick up small rifle magnum primers and a bunch of prepped brass from a local guy shortly.

Loaded some 55 gr soft points this morning with H335.  Went to the range in the afternoon and shot them, plus some 9mm and .380.

Picked up all my brass, and since no one else was at the range, I did a sweep and picked up a quart bag of shiny, recently fired pistol brass.

In the last few days took delivery of:
  • Super Swage 600
  • .223 case gauge
  • assorted 550 spare parts
  • universal decapping die
Ordered a .223 conversion kit and die set yesterday.

Rummaged around the reloading section of an LGS this afternoon and snagged a pound of CFE 223 for eventual loading w/ the above equipment.

Popped the universal decapper on a spare tool head and determined it will be much easier with the proper plate and pins installed.

Knocked out a few primers to play with the SS600 and am researching mounting and mods, may be stuck just decapping until I can find some SRP to confirm things are properly swaged.

I have 7-8 gallons of .223/5.56 brass to process so may have just found a project when the conversion kit arrives

had this week off, did 4 pots of lead each day W/Th/Friday of 45ACP 230 gr LRN, 12 pots total, about 3120 bullets total

My plan is to cast up all my lead this year, then sell the equipment.  Powder coating these will be a good fall/winter project.

Your shipping notification is because they created a shipping label.  Dillon creates shipping labels pretty darn quickly.  FedEx is less “snappy” about actually picking up stuff, though.

My contribution: I have a lot of stuff on the bench that uses “wall wart” AC adapters.  Well one of them decided that it would just leave one of the plug blades in the outlet when I took it out.  Not cool - or safe!

I did some work on how to recover this thing, and it turns out that the wires inside were basically spot welded to the plug blades.  That’s not something I even want to “fix.”

So I removed the other blade, and decided I’ll install a “figure 8” plug connector, and then just use this gadget with a short cord.  That will reduce the outlet strip crowding too.

Surprisingly enough, my stuff is showing shipped and in possession of USPS.

On topic-
I found another pound of CFE BLK locally, finished building my bench and cleared out a spot to put the bench.

Was given some 30/30 150 full copper jacket RNHP, loaded some for the 300 and tried at various coal.  Will not feed consistently.  Gave up.  Regular 30/30 lead tip flat or round nose feed fine.

They look similar to these but probably 1970 versions....

Drove 4 counties over to buy an old MEC 600 Jr shotshell press. It's the original model and lacks some of the features of later examples. But for 75 bucks I won't complain, all the ones on ebay start at about $150 +20 shipping and go up from there.

I am going to put my set of .410 dies on it and I won't have the hassle of switching my other press back and forth anymore.

Two minor missing parts, about 10-15 bucks worth and I should be in business.

Finished a full prep of 5.56 brass including two tumbles to get the case lube off.  Now have about 1k ready to load.  Same with 9mm.

Cast about 450 9mm bullets. They will need PC before I a can use them.

I got the connectors for my power supply in the mail (Friday, I think).  I’ve done some measurements on the case of the supply to figure out where to put it.  I have stuff planned out, but I’m waiting for a bit before I start cutting.  I’m probably not safe at the moment with anything as dangerous as a letter opener, so my Dremel is staying on the shelf for now.

Played with the 300 BO and my 130gr cast bullets.

H335 is listed for some cast bullets in my lyman manual, although not for the bullet weight I cast, so I adjusted the charge and started shooting.

Ended up with a really accurate load of 20gr of H335 under the gas check designed (without the check) bullet. 3 shots into .6" at 50 yards, then a 1" 10 shot group at the same distance.

So I loaded 14 of them up for later.

I switched over to the 7.62x39. Same bullet sized to .312 over 28gr of H335 gave me 2000 fps and hit the steel going at 15 yards at about a 1" group. Not bad for iron sights on a trashcan gun.

I have been converting .270 to 7x57 by running it through a trim die and a 7x57 resizing die.  It's a lot of work and I hope it is worth it.

  • spent half of the money I got from selling the scrap brass/primers on groceries and gas.
  • Running danger low on 12 gauge target loads so fired up the MEC Grabber, did 75 rds so far with no shot all over the floor, etc.  So doing 12 gauge is my next short term project

Interdasting (the 300 BLK load)

I rolled some 300 BLK Hornady 110 SP over 19.5 gr of H110. According to Hornady X manual, that’s well below MAX. According to Hogdgon, it’s slightly over max.

I started working on a way to hang Akro bins from the front of my bench.  Sure, there are purpose-made rails for this, but none of them are a) exactly the length I would need or b) free.

So I have a leftover plumbing stub-out frame left over from an old project that’s pretty close to exactly .125” thick and the right width for my work area.  Mounted about .250” above the bench surface level, it should hold plenty of bins.

And in the spirit of being cheap making use of what’s on hand, I’m going to split a length of plastic tubing to sit over it as a guard for when it doesn’t have bins hanging on it, instead of buying car door edge guards or some other gadget.

Yesterday, I finished converting the last 30lbs or so of wheel weights I had acquired a few weeks ago into 1lb ingots. For reference, I netted 123lbs of clip on WW lead and 71lbs of stick on WW lead for a total of 194lbs. This was out of three 5 gallon buckets of wheel weights so, about half was waste (steel, zinc, composite WW, & clips). I still feel like this was a good haul. Anytime I can get usable lead for free I'm a happy camper.
