Jackpot

I got in 1000 or so .380 cases today from the EE 2 powder measures from Dillon, decapped about 100 .257 and am still loading .45 (been on it a week now)

I am on a single stage. Finished up 600 9mm cases, they are ready for powder and bullets. Most will get a known recipe and 115 gr JHPs, the rest will be spreads with 125 and 147 JHP with Bullseye, 231, Power pistol and maybe tight group.

Finally made up the homemade alcohol/lanolin lube last night. Sized a hundred 223s. I like this stuff!

Sorted 1000 or so 300 AAC converted cases by headstamp. Now I’ll need to measure 5-10 randoms from each group to see if I’ll need to further sort.

Also primed around 500 converted LC brass that were ready.

Trying to decide if I want to try my hand at casting with the stuff I recently acquired. I don’t have a N100 mask, but I have a fairly open backyard and could rig a fan to blow toward the open pasture behind us.

@dave5339 Holy crap - - 45 gallons!? That's a lot of brass.

More .300 blk subs for me.

I've only got a few hundred .300 cases, but I've got thousands of .223. Thinking about setting up to form my own .300 for subs out of the head stamps I don't use.

Just set up the 650 for .300AAC and cranked out some 125gr loads.  I cleaned brass yesterday and then sized and sorted.

I am finding about 15% that need to be trimmed, which means I probably made a mistake the first time around.  These are hand made, once fired, mixed cases.

After cranking out stacks of .308, these cases look so tiny.

I am going to set up the second 650 for .45ACP now.

Tested my Mk262 clone at 25.1gr of CFE223. Just over 1moa with my Recce 14.5" and roughly 2380-2400fps from the 10" SBR. Brass looked good, so im going to ladder up to 25.4 and see if I can consistently clear 2400fps to mimick the IMI loading without getting too crazy.

Cast a few hundred bullets. 37 gr, 75 gr, and 500 gr. Different calibers obviously.

Powder coated them a few different colors. Mixed some blue and green to try to get a teal color. Came out alright.

Sized the 500 gr bullets to .4595.

Continued working on the bucket of brass I got yesterday.  I’ve tumbled and sorted around 2k pieces today and it’s still half full.  I already sized and decapped the LC that’s been tumbled.  I also trimmed a few hundred.

So far I’ve gotten about 1/3 mixed headstamp and 2/3 Lake City.  I’m pretty happy with that.

After sizing some .458 485 gr boolets, I decided to load up some to see how hard I can push them in my 458 socom.

This weight of bullet is almost exclusively loaded to sub sonic velocities. So, I started at those velocities and worked up slowly using winchester 296.

I got all the way to 24.5 gr before pressure signs developed. Velocity was 1460 fps! That is trapdoor 45-70 levels of power out of a barrel that is 8" shorter in a semi auto platform.

I love the 458 socom. My shoulder is sore now.

Ordered a LEE deluxe APP with the universal case feeder/collator. Added the bulge buster and bench mounting plate to the order yesterday. Everything is backordered until who knows when.

Midsouth Shooters has the Deluxe for only $75 so not a big investment to hopefully speed up decap before wet tumbling and bulge busting steps.

I placed an order with Brownell’s.  Initially I needed Alumahyde spray cans, but I added in a Lee Perfect Powder Measure for stick powder (Reloder 15 and IMR 4350) and done ammo boxes and reloading trays.

Also loading more 158 LSWC in .38 with W231.

You’ll love the Super Swage.  Mount it very securely, and it’ll help make your life a lot easier.  It is best used with large batches of identical cases - all LC, for example, should swage fine without adjustments, but random brass may need frequent tweaks.

Today, I reserved a “private bay” for Monday at my local range.  I have a bunch of loads to test, and maybe I won’t get all of them done, but I will definitely benefit from “ballistic therapy”.

Finished sorting through a 5 gallon metal bucket of WW then went to work turning them into ingots.

I ended up with 61lbs of COWW ingots and 10lbs of SOWW ingots. Not a bad haul. I had sold all of my lead last year so I'm slowly rebuilding my stores.

Armanov .300 blk powder funnel and clickable knob showed up today. Both appear well made. I’d been measuring charges individually while waiting on the funnel.

Went to replace batteries in the primer and powder warning boxes. All of them had leaked acid after 4 years in a hot storage container. Cleaned the contacts but still not working. I’ll do without for a while as I have other things to buy.

Rolled 50 rounds of 300 AAC Gold Dot and 50 more of 125 TNT.

Also used the M Expander on about 500 cases. Went back and double checked my previous handloads to make sure neck sizes are ok (destroyed or resized and rerolled less than 20 out of 500+).

Also ordered some powders to try with Subs.

Completed a primer inventory.

Over 25K primers total, almost all of which were purchased in the last couple of years on some combination of sale/free shipping/free hazmat.

I’m giving myself a gold star for “buy it cheap, stack it deep”.

I bought a $20 crack scale on Amazon after shopping for one on Midway.  It had decent reviews from reloaders.

I can see the value of the electronic scale when hand weighing/trickling.  I won't have to sneak up on the arm movement of the beam scale and then have over shoot.

I was sitting here at work staring into space and thought this through.  I recently found some 30.06 and 45-70 cases that need filling by hand.  I thought this process would be more tedious, but find it quite relaxing.

Did the same. I'm figuring out what I need to start buying when it's in stock. I thought this would be over quick. Seems less likely.
