Tore down and rebuilt a very sad Super 1050 that my buddy picked up from somewhere.. It is missing a couple hundred bucks in parts, so I will make a list of parts and go shopping at the kool-aid store to get the parts to bring this guy back into service..

Did another load work up for the 300 RSAUM after I turned the necks and uniformed the flash holes. Going to the range tomorrow to see if I can find a load that works well with that rifle.

Struck out at the fun show.  There was the guy with the used loading equipment - but nothing I even thought I'd want.  There were four vendors with powder and a moderate selection of bullets - none of them had any of what I needed or wanted.  Wanted to spend $1700 on a Zenith MP5 clone, but I was strong and so I'm still married.

Completed the load work up on my 300 rsaum, good load at the top of the workup. 22 tcm load work up stopped when I noticed the scope had moved.

Got about 500 range 556 pickups and a bunch of 7mm rem mag brass as well as a bunch of 243 brass someone threw away.

Loaded 1100 rounds of 55gr .223.

Filled 3 ammo cans with 500 rounds each.

Now I need to prep my fired .223 cases.

Unpacked 2000 M193 Lake City bullets that came yesterday from American Reloading. Paid $107 shipped for them. A little dull but otherwise look great.

Made a deal to buy 5800 Hornady 55gr FMJ, 3300 CCI 41 primers, 1700 CCI 500 primers and 1000 Winchester LP primers.

You got that right!

This afternoon I'm going to get out my Dillon Super Swage and take care of the pockets on a batch of LC 7.62 brass; it's about 200 cases, and shouldn't take too long.

If there is time, I'll trim the .30 Carbine brass I have all sized and de-lubed.  I have to see if my idea for doing this on my Giraud trimmer is as simple as I hope it is.

Edit:

So, crap happens.  I didn't have the opportunity to get any swaging done, as we had "other things" that really needed doing.  Rats!  But the swaging and trimming are at the top of my list.

Finally replaced the last of my Hornady reloading equipment over the weekend. I started off with a Hornady LNL AP press and all of my dies, scales, powders drops, electronic powder dispenser, etc. were all Hornady.

Well, after using that stuff for 6 months I decided that most of it sucked.

About a year ago, I started replacing it all with Redding, and a few RCBS items. First was a T7 turret press with all the Inline Fabrication goodies. All my die sets are now Redding.

Last weekend, I purchased a Redding 3BR powder measure with pistol insert, a Redding #2 beam scale, a Redding #5 powder trickler, and a RCBS Chargemaster!

The Redding 3BR powder measure is awesome. I set it to 26gr with CFE223 and every single charge I measured was exactly 26gr. The RCBS Chargemaster is waaaayyy more consistent than the Hornady LNL Autocharge that I had.

Using a T7 turret press and Redding dies, my OAL is much more consistent as well. Overall I am extremely pleased with my new setup and I've been loading quite a bit of 55gr .223 lately to feed my ARs at the range.

Tuesday night I loaded 400+ rounds of blasting .223 on the 650 in an hour and a quarter.  Miraculously, I had exactly the right number of prepped cases for the number of primers I had left!

I lost count of my total on this machine, I would have to look back at my records to get the total.

Over the last two days, I have sized, deprimed, reamed about 1200 .223 cases.  After doing that, I obviously needed a case prep center, so I went and got the Frankford Arsenal Platinum.  I like it.  I get my cases usually coming +/- .0002.  Of the 1200 or so cases, I think that I have about 350 that are trimmed, chamfered, and deburred.  I tumbled about 200 and they look nice.  Have the next batch of about 150 in the tumbler now.  Also broke a pawl on my Hornady LnL.  Called them and they replaced it under warranty.  Wasn't expecting that at all.  Thanks to them!

Went to the range, made some brass and left with a lot more brass.  Sorted extra brass while tumbling my brass.  Resized 308 and 30-06 brass pickups with unsized 223 pick ups.

300 BLK brass gets resized tomorrow and when tumbling the lube off will sort the 223 pick ups.  Getting to the point where if the 223 brass isn't LC it gets put into the sell later pile.  I like this problem.

Tested my new Magnetospeed Sporter.  Very nice chronograph.  It has a lot of advantages over most of what is on the market.

I tested a regulated gas block on my PA 10 with my reloads and no more blown primers or damaged bases.

I punched the primers, reamed pockets that needed it, and put the cases in the wet tumbler.

Now I am having a Mission Brewery Root Beer.

I was told that a .357 Sig case base is significantly stouter than a .40 case by the folks at Dillon.  Be sure of what you speak, perhaps quote a source, because if this is bad info, it can gernade a gun.  .357 Sig is typically 5000psi higher pressure than the .40.

It is closer to a trimmed and necked down 10mm case. The .40 case is too short to make a proper .357 Sig case.

The .357 SIG is indeed very similar to the .40 S&W, BUT that doesn't mean the cases are actually necked down .40 cases.  Check the lengths - .357 SIG is 0.865" long, while .40 S&W is 0.850" long.

SAAMI also specs .357 SIG with a max pressure of 40k psi, while the spec for .40 S&W is only 35k psi.  That means that the SIG cases are probably substantially "stouter" in construction - particularly in the web area.

So, while there is a very close dimensional similarity between the two, they "ain't the same at all."
