I spent a couple hours yesterday cleaning and going through all the parts and pieces of the SDB I bought to keep at my Dad's place.
I just need to mount it to a solid table and I can start teaching Dad to use it. |

Finally got around to finishing up a pistol only reloading bench in the house. Moved my .45 SDB from my rifle bench in the garage, set up my new 650XL in 9mm, and not pictured here, hung a 4' LED shop light right above. Don't think I have enough ceiling space above the 650 for a casefeeder, I might have to sawzall the legs down a little. |

If you don't want the crimped primer they would have to be commercial ammo, Remington, Winchester, etc. Military and anything saying NATO will have the crimp.
The crimp isn't too much to deal with, 2 twists with a deburring tool gets them gone. Or buy a de-crimping tool that chucks in a drill. You only have to do it once for the life of the case. It's easy to get rid of. ETA: Sorry, Flash. Hit submit 45 seconds after you did. Point understood. |

did another 250 rds of .223, depleted the stock for that particular projectile
Then I went thru junk bin of pulled projectiles, sorted by .224 then weight, then cranked another 18 rounds of random 50-55gr loads Loaded up some 30 rd mags with the newly created reloads |

Still sorting .223
Gave some .45 ACP brass away. Pulled more .45 ACP brass aside if an EE deal goes through so the potential new owner can have a starter set to do with if he reloads. Tumbling more .45 ACP brass right now. Going to start tumbling more .223 afterwards. 100 55 FMJ's came in today, so my stockpile of those will be at the amount I need for when I start the volume reloading. And last night I finally bent a pin on one of my dies, so I can now join the club with those who've already done it here |

Tried out my CE ProChrono today, and liked it very much. The Bluetooth adapter that sends all the info to my phone is a must have, it puts all the info into charts, gives you power factor, foot pounds of energy, average feet per second, standard deviation, extreme spread, etc. No more guesswork, and I don't know how I made it without a chronograph before.
Shot a ladder of several different charge weights and powders with 220 grain SMK's loaded in 300 BLK. All worked well, and now I know what charges are around the velocity I want. I had guessed what the velocity would be on most of these rounds, and I was close on some and way off on others. Then came home and trimmed, chamferred, and deburred more 300 BLK brass. |

Cleaned up in the reloading room, resized 200 45 ACP cases and cleaned the imperial sizing wax off 100 223 after FL sizing. I will prime both soon in the air conditioned comfort of the house. I will probably get out and start loading the 223 or 45 tonight after the temp drops in the shop. I am going shooting tomorrow come hell or high water.

Removed the primer crimp and primed 600 rounds of 223. Only ~450 more then I'll have ~2800 rounds ready for powder and bullets.

did another 500 or so .223, neglecting the 9mm project, need to focus on that again.
Had a brain fart and put a projectile in the .223 powder station, dropped powder just fine - all over the shell plate. Caused a squib and pulled the projectile and soldiered on. I was changing projectiles midstream and measuring COAL and lost focus or something |

I had been putting together a box of reloading goodies to send to a cousin that has cancer. That way when he gets home he has something to occupy his time.
Well, cancer is worse now. He is going into hospice. Doesn't have long. He told me not to send it. Just a quick off topic, Fuck Cancer. Well, you guys in the case of cases thread will benefit. I will just put that stuff in there. Box should be on it's way to me now. |

And not measuring stuff ahead of time, so the guts of the box are a lot less neat and tidy than I'd wanted. Stupid "oops" stuff like that. Anyway I'm pretty close at the moment, mostly needing to put connectors on wires to hook things up, and then button everything up. This "weekend project" has sucked up a lot of time, but I've learned a lot. One big lesson: if you want to make a circuit board, go to the trouble of etching (or plating) one instead of using any of the "easy and quick" products out there to "draw your circuits right on the board." They don't work all that well, and they require much more patience than I wanted to use on anything. |

Now I have a portable reloading setup that's a bit more robust than my Lee hand press. |
|
|
My final go at the wiring box for my video system turned out to be a bust. The "draw your circuit traces directly on the board" pen is really only good for repairing minor flaws in existing circuit traces, not for "drawing your traces."
So I spent 10 minutes ripping out the fancy connectors and scrubbing the nickel "ink" off the board, then just used good old wire and solder to put the thing together. I should have gone this way to begin with... I haven't tested it yet because my eyes were starting to cross from solder flux fumes, but I probably have the board 90% complete. I should be able to hook it up and test it tomorrow (as long as I don't have to work too late). |

Loaded (work ups) some more 55 gr cast PC bullet loads for 223.
Also some 300 blk work ups and a standard, for me, 9mm load. Sorted through the wet tumbled 30-30, the freeby bag I got yesterday at the funshow. Total of 128 cases. 47 old school Herters cases. Herter's went out of business around 1968. |

Loaded 500rds of 9mm on my single stage. By that 500th round, I was ready to be done!
|
|
|
switched over from Ranier projectiles to 115 gr Montana Gold on the Dillon 650 for 9mm. Did about 300 rds after dialing in the new powder charge
Checking every loaded round with a case gage paid off again. Despite using the shell sorter sifter and using the 380 plate to get rid of the 380 from the 9mm before tumbling and again before filling the case feeder, caught a 380 ACP in the 9mm production stream. Had to pull the bullet, dump the powder, and decap the live primer Did about 400 rds of .223 but switched to CCI primers and they're real picky on primer pockets. Now I have to retest the primer pockets with the ballistic tool primer pocket gage and if there's any drag on the GO end, set them aside cause the CCI primers will be super hard to seat. This doubles my .223 production time |

Finished "match" prepping 100 pieces of 7.62x39 brass, ordered metal pegboard for the reloading room, wired up a crappy single bulb fixture to the switch in the reloading room (eventually it will get a ceiling and real fixture of some type).
Looking at a few more small items from Inline but want to wait until my pegboard is up to make any decisions. Then comes shelving / organization but it will all be worth it in the end. |
