Picked up 2 like new H&G molds for a really great price. 4 cavity #68 and a 4 cavity #503. Super excited and a little hesitant to fire up the pot and cast with these gems.

Went shopping today to get set up for .223.  Bought a Lyman case prep center, RCBS .223 dies, and a pilot for my old Forster trimmer.  I just need to order my tumbler and I'll be ready to do all my case prep.

ETA: Put the pilot on the trimmer this morning so I could get started, they put a .30 caliber pilot in a .22 caliber bag  Guess I'll have to order another one.

Tried powdercoating boolits for the first time. Nowhere near as fast as using my Star sizer. If cleaning after shooting is less then it might be worth it.

Trimmed my first 100 .223 cases on my ancient Forster trimmer, then chamfered and deburred them on the Lyman prep center.  The prep center made it really easy, but I see myself investing in some type of power trimmer in order to do the amount of brass I want to do.

I helped dad set up a Dillon RT1500 on our 650 for .223 last night.

I'm looking forward to using it!

Unfortunately, as soon as we got it all set up, and I was starting to do a run, I broke my Lee universal decapping pin...

I gotta send an email off to them

Loaded up the last 70 or so 22 tcm once fired brass I had, then I set up the mini chop saw to start cutting down the 2 ammo cans I have of 556 blanks now that I have the tool head set up with the trim die and rt1200.

Tonight, I am gonna order the parts to make the "$100 annealer"  No way am I going to anneal all those pieces by hand...

Went out to my favorite shooting spot in the desert this morning to unload some ammo... Before I even fired a shot, some nice person before me had left ~35lbs of nice once fired 5.7x28, 9mm, 40S&W, 223 and 308 brass... So, the brass whore that I am, I just HAD to pick it all up..

Busy day:

1. finished sorting some brass, the shell sorter plates helped, ran a batch of .223 and now on the second batch
2. started cranking out .223 on the Dillon 550B
3. This frustrated the bejesus out of me but finally have it resolved!

The Dillon 650 is set up for 9mm and I'm about 3500 rds into a 9mm project.
The press started feeling gritty and occasionally would take a lot of force to cycle.
I thought it was something jamming up under the shell plate or the indexer.
Spent over 75 minutes taking off the shell plate, platform, regreasing the indexer, reassembling everything and it still started to bind, finally almost seized up.
Finally dawned on me to suspect the powder measure and sure enough it was the culprit.
Disassembled the measure except for removing the cylinder, wiped down everything with rubbing alcohol, slapped it back together, seems to move freely now
Will continue the 9mm project tomorrow

Finding that Federal NT 9mm brass has tight primer pockets

Processed and primed some 300 Blackout cases, and tried to figure out what powder I wanted to load them with. I'm using 220 grain SMK's, and have Accurate 1680, Winchester 296, IMR 4198, and CFE BLK to choose from. I think I am going to try them all.

Cut down an unknown number of 556 blanks on the mini chop saw till I just about wore out the second blade. I've made it through 1 ammo can of blanks... 1 more to go.

Threw them in the dry tumbler and left them on over night... I think while my fingers heal from that last batch, I will deprime them and take care of primer pockets.

busy day

1. reloaded 400 or so 9mm
2. decided to do something about that little tub of 9mm brass with known crimped primer pockets

So ran the Dillon 650 dry, turned the case feeder off and loaded the brass by hand and snagged it at station 2 (just wanted to size and decap).

Then ran a RCBS military primer pocket reamer on the brass and loaded some of them, seem to work!

3. figured I should check my 4000 or so 9mm loads I've been making and doing the plunk test in the Dillon case gage.   Got maybe 900 of them checked so far. Lots more to go. Found maybe a dozen rounds that failed, most due to boogered up rims, safe to shoot but I set them aside anyway.  Found 4 or so with high primers and I just reseated them

Checking is fast.  Hold the gage in the left hand and feed rounds in it with the right hand.  Dump each passing round into a bin. Do problem analysis on the failed rounds and put in the reject bin

4. Felt sorry my RCBS kinetic bullet puller so I cleaned the innards with a patch soaked with rubbing alcohol and replaced the ear plug I use as a cushion for it

5. The powder measure is working fine but as soon as the rod pulls down the lever to allow the powder bar to go forward it springs forward.  Annoying but harmless.  Better than being stuck I guess. Doesn't happen on the same current style powder measure I have on the 550B for .223

Switched my 650 over to 9mm.

Couldn't find my clean 9mm brass.

Tumbled some other 9mm brass i had.

Found my bucket of brass. It all needed to be cleaned and sorted. Since it was all in my need to be cleaned and sorted bucket.

Wet tumbled some 9mm and 223. Wet tumbler died. Had to dry the brass and then tumble it.

De-primed about 2000 pieces of 9mm.

Gave up on reloading for the day.

That's almost certainly a flaw in the brass, not your load.  I bought 1300 once-fired 7.62 NATO cases one time and one of them (just one) had that same brass flaw.

My input: thinking about those Forster Ultra Micrometer seating dies...  I have a small amount of money burning a hole in my pocket, and I've wanted these dies for a while.  But do I want one in .223 and one in .308, or do I want those AND one for 300 Blackout...  Hard choices these First World problems.

I've had an xl650 since I bought it new back around '93 or so. It had the thin platform. Finally called about the thicker platform. It came last week. Got it installed and aligned.

The new platform looks odd on there.

Unloaded some rounds one pull of the trigger at a time. Collected a fair amount of brass at the range along with a good amount of lead.

Purchased the supplies to build a sifter box to speed up the lead collection at the range.

Got the remaining small primer .45 acp brass resized and all of it belled (about 370 pieces).  Got all the large primer and small primer .45 acp brass primed (almost 700 pieces.)

Got two batches of 7.62X51 brass through the SS pin/water/lemishine/dawn cleaning set up and through the crushed walnut shell media in the vibratory to dry it out and apply NuFinish was to it (hopefully to protect it some before/after I get it reloaded.)

While I still haven't decided how many of those Forster Ultra Micrometer Seating dies I'm going to buy, I stumbled across a site that has cast bullets for Tokarev rounds, so I ordered some of them to test.

I made a little progress on finishing the lights/camera/monitor system for my Hornady LnL AP.  I am close to assembling it, but some details, such as the box the electronic guts go in, aren't ready yet.
