I have 3-55 gallon barrels of brass I am sorting. Luckily, 2 of them are 99.9% .223 so there isn't much sorting going on there. The other is mixed. I basically have to handle every piece by hand. I came across this little guy and after seeing how it was shaped, I had to look at the headstamp. It has a VIII on top, then a "19" on the left side of the primer, a "38" on the right side of the primer and a little eagle on the bottom over a Nazi symbol. I thought it was kinda neat to basically just stumble across it.

Cool piece of brass. My FIL gave me a few loaded rounds he found with the same stamp.

The only Nazi eagle on brass case is the 8X56MM rimmed which is not even a military cartridge
No 8MM or 9MM the standard rounds for the German military (8MMX33MM for the MP44 near the end) had a swastika stamped on it 55gallon drums,  That is some serious sorting

7.62x54 has a rim and looks similar to a slightly larger 303.

But that does not in any small way diminish the validity of my statement

Yup thats a 8x56R. Want to start to reload the Priv brass and the Hornady ammo. From what I've been told the German and Hungary brass is good to load. Prob is finding the bullets As I believe the bullet has to be a .329 bullet but some people use a .330.

Last year, my Father purchased a German K98 at an estate sale. When he was ready to pay, the lady pointed to an ammo can marked 8mm and said he could have the ammo for an extra $25. He agreed and loaded it in the truck without ever inspecting the ammo.
After he got home, he opened the ammo can and it was full of this same ammo, on stripper clips and in original Nazi marked cardboard boxes. It was in absolutely mint condition. It must be rare because he brought it to a recent gun show and the ammo dealers got in a bidding war with him over it. He wound up selling the ammo for more than he paid for the K98 plus a case of 8x57 non-corrosive ammo for the K98. -Deke |
