powder for 5.56x45? - Page 1

Yeah, call me a sheep, but I'm thinking of stocking up on reloading supplies for Obamageddon part 2.

I have two AR rifles, both 16 inch barrels. The blaster has a 1/9 twist, the recce has a 1/8 twist.
I mostly shoot 55gr FMJ plinking rounds, and 40gr varmint rounds from my blaster, as well as ss109.

For the recce, I do shoot some heavier SMK's, but of course, I'm limited in weight by the twist.

If you were going to buy a couple of 8# jugs of powder, what would you get?, and why?

Varget?, H322?, TAC?, WC844?, other?

WC844 , because it shoot just fine for me and at $10lb it's even better

wc844, H335(which is the same as WC844), 2230, varget for heavier stuff

I only use Varget on 68/69/75gr match only, and 308 match

Illl use pull,d 844 anyday on 55gr plinker

H322 very clean and very accurate.

can use it in .308 and 6.8 also.

8208 and TAC, already have the #8 of 8208

Shot a mag of Wolf/Tula steel case, 23 gr of TAC, Hornady 55gr FMJ and Win SRP with good plinking results. Shot from DPMS AP4 1:9twist 16in.

Another vote for CFE 223, I think that powder has a lot going for it.

IMR4198 and H335 have given us the best accuracy in our AR15's.

Your 1/8 twist barrel should be good to go for heavier slugs.

New powder? TAC

Pull down? 844

Why not get both? Run TAC in your higher quality loads and 844 in your plinkers...

My vote is Varget, it has the accuracy load for all my guns! 223,7-08, and 308..
