Not a SD model but it is a SBR with a threaded barrel, suppressor not shown.
Note: I have to use subsonic ammo as HV goes supersonic.

Going through the Form1 process on my GSG5.
Here's what I think I'm doing (  ): SBR the rifle, buy a 9" GSG5P (pistol length) barrel you can swap out yourself, and then add the adapter(s) below, total runs < $150 for parts and $200 for the stamp. DO NOT get the GSG5PK barrel, that's only 4.5" and won't work.
This Promag adapter and the ATI adapter do the trick, though the Promag appears discontinued, and I've read they don't really do a good job of keeping the barrel and threads concentric. Opportunity for baffle strikes goes up as a result. Other option is to thread the barrel itself, but I've also read the barrels aren't thick enough to support the kind of threads needed for a direct thread can. Not at ALL sure how I'd suppress a non-SBR version. |

I had a GSG pistol that I put a can on. It was very easy, if you have someone thread the adapter on the barrel. It was nice to shoot but I ended up selling it (couldn't see putting the money into a stamp for a .22).

Just waiting on the P barrel for my SBR conversion now. I would have rather bought the pistol, but it is considered a "Saturday night special" in MN because of the receiver melting point and I had to buy the rifle version.
I'm waiting on a swarfworks adapter but have not heard anything from him after I placed my order a few days ago. |

I've long thought about doing just that, as you describe, mainly bbecause we have a couple of the GSG carbines and a bunch of mags for them... but I've already got a pair of SBR'd 10/22s and several AR SBRs (including one that wears a short rimfire upper most of the time), so another .22 SBR just hasn't been a high priority. As low as the price has gone, however, it is very tempting. My kids already love the carbines.

The barrel profile is too small to thread. So the only way I know is to get the ATI suppressor adapter (or similar product) and put it on a pistol or SBR build

Not sure what the 3-lug buys one besides cosmetics since all the rimfire cans I know of are direct-thread not 3-lug.... |

well it would be a muzzle device that looks correct AND is functional. Right now I use a copy of the Hk flash suppressor when I'm not suppressed, and use the ATI when I am.
Let's be honest, half the reason to buy a GSG-5 is the cosmetics. |

What is the thread size that screws into the triple tree on the gsg pistol with 9" barrel? I've searched but I'm getting conflicting info.
I was thinking about making an adapter that would thread into the tree and the other end would be threaded to fit a Maglite or SD tactical tube. It would basically be a D or C tube end cap with a threaded nipple coming off the end. ]== I think it would be more sturdy and look a lot cleaner. |

Ok, I'm happy to be wrong! The replacement screws on much more smoothly! Cosmetics aren't much better as far as finish goes, but acceptable. It looks like they might have chased the threads on this one before shipping - hell, for that matter it might be the one I returned with the threads cleaned up. Before I tried it on the gun, I test fit this one on a triplet from a spare GSG-522 to GSG-5 conversion kit. Definitely threaded on much more easily - BUT it still stops short of the shoulder (maybe 2mm now). This is perhaps 1 to 1 1/2 turns further on than the previous one, so not much, but enough to make all the difference. Comparing threading the adapter onto the bare triplet to threading it onto the pistol, I can feel it snug up against the muzzle instead of stopping short as the old one did or bottoming out the threads as it does with no barrel in place. Good turnaround by Pro-Mag - somewhat disappointing that I had to pay to ship it back to them, but so far so good. Definitely be aware that the adapter will not be flush with the triplet face, and that looking inside you should see the muzzle run up to the internal shoulder and snug up there, but with those Be-On-Look-Outs I think it could be fine. I still need to put a can on and see if I can check the concentricity, but fingers are crossed right now. |
