THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
And so it goes. The GSG-STG44 (that's the official model designation) has been approved as readily adaptable to sporting purposes by the Firearms Technology Branch. I'll have the first shooter back from them and in my hands in a week or so. The real shooter will also be on hand at Shot Show in January.

So, now we begin the rest of the work. Still hoping for end of March/early April for the first load. Fingers crossed, but we're moving in the right direction.

WOOOHOOO!!!!

Although reliability is more important than getting it quick, I can wait longer for reliability.

Oh my! I saw these were in Europe for some time and wished we could get one here. Now ts going to happen!!

There is a new .22 M-1 carbine due out soon, now this. Holy Bat Dudu, we are all winners! The M-1 carbine (from another company) and this rifle are on my MUST HAVE list.

Who is making the .22 M-1 carbine? I'm interested, too.

Not to be a debbie downer but what does this have over say a GSG-5 or 10/22?

For example, I got the GSG-5 as a .22lr trainer for the mp5

Do people have a number of STGs and they want to save $ and train with a 22lr version?

Or is it just that the STG is just a 'bad-ass gun' and it'd be 'cool' to play around with one on the range? Nothing wrong with that!

This is my supposition. While the GSG and ostensibly the STG could be used as trainers, it'd only be in the general firearms sense. Who here actually uses an MP5 of any variant? Very few, I'd imagine. A .22 AR15 would be more practical for a platform trainer, but I'd rather take the STG out any day of the week...it's just too cool to leave in the safe.

Google it...Erma makes one, and Iver Johnson made/makes one. You can also get a Carbine lookalike kit for your 10/22. Honestly, I'd rather just shoot the real Carbine.

You hit the nail on the head..... While I love my GSG-5 and 5SD, I'm gonna wear that new puppy out! And if it shoots as reliably as my GSG-5's do, I'll probably buy a second one as a backup for the future. This is going to be Ubercool! My 10/22's, SIG 522, Colt Umarex M4, and S&W MP15-22 better get used to the dark. They aren't going to see the light of day much after I get my hands on this little sturmgewehr.
See gun... like gun.... buy gun... shoot gun... put in safe. Repeat as necessary.

GSG-STG44 has a suggested retail price of $599.00 including wood box. The wood box in those images you see up there is how the box is going to be. As the real shooter was still at ATF when we took that box to a show, that's a dummy in there.

How much of it will be metal, how much plastic? Is the buttstock real wood?

Will there be a boxless option? While the box is cool, I don't really have a place to store it. Will there be railed forends and collapsible stocks available too? Sorry, kidding.

All metal, no plastic. All wood is real and solid, not laminate.

I don't have an answer to that at this time, all planned 2012 production is supposed to have wood boxes to my knowledge thus far

Well....no lol. We've looked into the possibility of replicating the original scope mount and scope design we've seen in pictures and books but its not looking like it will be economically viable at this time.

I found those photos on Gunblast, underneath it mentioned the first 1000 will come in those boxes then after the initial run it will be offered as an option.

Chiappa is making one. Looks like they will be about $330 or so. The picture says "Black Synthetic Stock" but I can't see that happening. That would be like offering rails for the STG.

Are the rounds visible through the magazine like other GSG rifles or is the magazine like the original STG44 where you cannot see the rounds? I couldn't tell from the pic of the mag. sitting in the box.

Is there a waiting list for these? I definitely want one....
