This is my favorite Spyderco. I have owned it since 2010, and it sits life in a drawer. The fit and finish is spectacular. Its truly a beast. I wish they still made the Manix like this.

If it's your favorite and the best, why is it in a drawer

My Emerson super cqc7 and spyderco pm2 sit in a drawer since my benchmade 940-1

Yep, I've got a Manix and Manix 2. The Manix is a hell of a knife, but it was just too heavy. The blade is chunky to say the least. I switched to the Manix 2 and then a Delica.

Now my everyday carry is a Manbug.

I've got the manix 2 and it's been great. I carry it over my zt350. It's bigger but carries nicer.

Have you ever handled a really good custom folder?

When I first got into knives I went to my first USN Gathering years ago with $600 to spend on a knife. After looking around all day I walked out with a Manix 2. Plenty of other stuff caught my eye but you either couldn't buy it or had to win a raffle to get the sane price. Since then I've owned 20-30 customs and midtechs in the $300-$1000 range. Last year I kind of got bored having a pelican full of stuff I didnt use much and sold everything but the Manix 2, a Military and a Para 2.

For a good solid normal use pocket knife its hard to beat Spyderco. If I could only have one knife it would be the Manix 2 as its a little beefier than the Military or Para.

I do miss the Mosier I sold though. There is a difference with the real quality custom stuff.

Sure. I own/have owned Horrigan, Strider, Chris Reeve, Bill Harsey, Brous, etc.

What is your point?

I'm a Spyderco fan. Something about stainless steel liners and g10.
Forgot to add: beautiful knife, OP.

They are making a new Manix 2 lock back version you may be interested in. They just came out a few days ago.

How are the slide locks on the current Manix 2s?  Comparable to the Benchmark Axis lock?

The original Manix line were Lock Backs. The Manix 2 is CBBL (Caged Ball Bearing Lock)

Pretty close in action.

The CBBL uses a ball bearing instead of a bar.

There are weak spots for each type of lock.

The cage part of the CBBL is plastic.

The springs on the Axis lock are sometimes known to fail.
