I have, on occasion, encountered the  CASE M3 Fighting Knife with a capital letter neatly set into the leather handle just behind the guard.
Are there any M3 experts here that can shed some light on what these letters might represent? or why they were included in these knives? Or are they just someones initial to show ownership? I have included two photos from Photo bucket copying their "HTML" link.........It has been a while since using PB and I hope it works......Thoughts?

Letters probably indicate what company the knives belong to.
