I want to give a friend a Spyderco Tenacious for Christmas, but I want to customize the scales.  Is it possible to use rit dye to color the scales? Will some colors take better than others? If not rit dye, is there a better solution?

Thanks!

That significantly escalates the price.  I just need the scales dyed red.

No.  G10 doesn't take dye well.  Linen micarta sometimes does depending on what resin was used to cure it.

Buy some red G10 from masecraft and make new ones.
