I have a Benchmade Auto Presidio and a Pro Tech TR3. The TR3 is much thinner and carries better in the pocket. Action is extremely positive. I need to get my hands on a Spyderco auto.

Kershaw Launch series are good to go and not that expensive for a USA produced knife.

boker Kalashnikov, you can't go wrong, there also cheap in case you lose them, or you get use to carrying a auto.

I would suggest against an out the front blade since they tend to be geared towards self defense and not so much as a tool. I really like the benchmade striker it will hold up to years of abuse.

I just bought my second one (have a 2, wanted to try a 1)-excellent action, sharp as hell, and the Launch 4 looks really interesting-same action, shorter blade-less than 3 inches, but they were sold out. Watch out for BladeHQ-they keep you CC number, makes for silly easy impulse buying. Bastards.

Kershaw Leek.  Sleek, easy to carry in the pocket.

Taiwanese lightning OTF are  good dependable knives for $30 bucks if you lose it you aren't out of a lot of scratch. They have serrated or plain its a poor mans scarab.

I only have a Microtech UTX-70 and a Scarab Clone right now.
I want a Tr series and Godfather Protech, an Ultratech, and Kershaw Leek next.

Don't think you could go wrong with any of those.  Except for Microtechs sometimes having problems.

Looks like a nice design. I had a 3550 that I liked and it carried well. Mini reflex is also good.

Protech side openers are well built and fire hard (had a protech/emerson cqc 7 but did not like the grind)

OTFs are great if you want a coin that happened your pocket to render your knife useless (or dust or lint or sand or whatever). Single action like the MT Halo are an exception, but OTFs are a novelty/toy.

I'll be ordering one of these. I actually have an older afo model. Maybe 15 years old. No safety and no pocket clip otherwise it's very solid and a great knife.
