I have come into some approx 2" x 3/8" x 56'" straight, flat spring steel.  Is there a market for it?

depending on what type of steel it is, yes. there's always a market, but the type will dictate the value.

It helps if you know what the alloying elements and carbon content are. This will help determine the appropriate forging, normalizing and heat treating procedures needed to properly work the steel..

I am no metallurgist, I might be able to get the specs.  I will do some research.

Knifemakers love 5160. Best knife I ever made was in that.

I'm sure you can move it with no trouble at all.

Yup, good stuff. Used a lot in choppers and larger knives. Dan Winkler uses it in some of his tomahawks/axes.

bladeforums

but you will need a subscription (paid) to sell there.  I don't sell anything there because I'm not paying them an extortion fee.  Their board, their rules.....I'm following them....but  I refuse to play their game.

It's $30 for a year in order to sell. You can't even list trades there without a paid membership anymore. There are a couple makers here on Arfcom that would probably buy it from you.
