Never own a real quality knife and trying to decide between the two. This will be EDC. I'm station in Puerto Rico now. Not any places to try both out. I want something bulky. Made duty will be defense . Anything else I should look at around $200 range? Had to leave all firearms at home. SMH

ZT 0350 hands down.

If your budget is up to $200 and you're looking for a durable EDC knife, I would suggest taking a look at the ZT0550.  I just bought one from BladeHQ for $165.

I'm a Benchmade fan but after recently buying a ZT, I think they may be a better value.  The fit and finish is top notch for a production knife, good materials, and good design.  They're hard to beat.

Just my 2 cents but the ZT350 is thick and HEAVY for an EDC type knife, some wont mind it, but it was noticeable to me.  I switched to carrying a kershaw knockout and actually like it better, thinner profile, lighter, and the deep carry pocket clip is tits.  Still made it the USA, lifetime warrenty and 1/2 the price.

I have no experience with the BM, but I can verify the 0350 is tough. Not just pretty stout, but TOUGH.

Did you snap the tip off of that?  If so, how did you do that?  I am trying to gauge how tough ZT knives are since I find yself being drawn to them as I cruise the knife shops online.

The 0550 is also a badass. It reminds of a Hinderer.
It's on my short list.

LOL, any reason you think that happens?  Maybe because Rick designed it.

Thx for info guys. What makes the 0550 better than the 0350? If it is.

the Benchmade ADAMAS. Its a great knife,  its tough and very comfortable to carry despite its size. and you have options for auto and serrated blades as well.

Not a fan of Benchmade, think ZT and DPX has better choices for the price.

Throwing DPX Hext Folder into the mix, you can nab one for $130-$140

I kind of prefer the blade profile of the ZT 0550 over the 0350 myself.

ETA: Just realized the 0550 only has a thumb stud. Don't like that.

Research local laws...  I think PR max length is 3", non auto.  That might rule out some of what's been suggested in this thread

Adamas. Better lock, better ergonomics and built like a tank.

If you're looking for big: BM contego or Spyderco PM2

If you have to follow PR laws and keep it under 3 inches it gets tricky.

The 275 is alot more comfortable to use than a 350.

Another vote for the 0350.  I've got two of them, one black with black blade, non serrated, and the other is an orange scaled, stonewashed blade beauty.  The orange actually has thicker scales than the black, and as a result I actually prefer it.  It just feels better in the hand.  The black one still rides in my man-purse 24/7 though.

ZT0350 is a solid knife but harder to sharpen with a regular stone than the 0550, 0566 or 0560. If you like the Hinderer style, look at the 0566, assisted opening and a smaller version of the 0560.

THX Guys. Now I have more choices. Going to take longer. Now I understand how people have so many blades. LOL

Personally I think no collection is complete without a ZT0350. It's an all-around great EDC knife. I've abused the hell out of mine and it's still my go-to carry knife.

A few of my ZT's. 0350, 0700, 0770, 0560 and 0777.

Also check out the Spyderco Gayle Bradley. Not sure how I feel about its M4 blade steel but so far it's proving to be a balanced and handy knife.

I've owned both and still own the Benchmade Adamas 275. My vote goes for the 275. The handle on the 0350 is small(I don't have huge hands either). The benchmade is definitely more robust IMO.

I would recommend the ZT0560 over the 350 for sure. I have one and I like it a lot. The elmax steel takes a great edge. So does the BM275's D2 though...get both, I did. :D
