THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
Do any of you own or have experience with it and is it worth the $120? Heard only great things about the company and this is my favorite knife from their catalog... Any thoughts?

I don't own one personally, but I've never seen a negative review of the Paramilitary 2.

About the only complaint I've seen is that S30V steel can be difficult for some people to sharpen. With proper equipment you shouldn't have an issue though.

Yeah this would be my first expensive high-end knife, and would also serve EDC role, so that's a good thing to know.

I have a Paramilitary 1. Great knife. I love it. I use a Spyderco Sharpmaker to keep it touched up and never had a problem.

Its an awesome knife, and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

You can find them for a bit less if you shop around some more.

Got one on my wish list. Was at my LGS and another customer let me check his out and needless to say I was very impressed. Butter smooth opening & closing, solid lock-up with no blade play, lightweight and very comfortable in the hand. If you've got the coin, buy it, you'll love it. If for some reason you don't like, then you're probably just some kind of exceptional freak.. Just kidding. Seriously, if you don't like it, you probably won't have any problem getting all or most of your money back, depending on how well you bought it.

Ive got a Military (the full sized unit) as my EDC knife, honestly outside of my Benchmade Contego I dont think I can find a better EDC knife. If you can swing it and the blade is legal for you grab the Military

I have three of them that should say it all... I just got my Orange XHP sprint

It's just a really solid practical knife. I say practical because as cool as some of the big ZT's and other like it are they are just IMO too bulky.
I use my knives for everything and and I have found that the full flat grind and sharper tip work best for me. The main items I find myself cutting are tie wraps, rope, cardboard, cheese, plastic etc
I will say that I love the compression lock it works great

Howes knives had the para2's for $98 recently making it one of the best buys out there

I would have already bought one, but the blade is too long for local laws here.

Go for it.

Easily my favorite knife. I own a Sebenza and a Strider SNG and the Para 2 gets carried more often. It's a fantastic knife and easily worth the price.

I buy all my spyderco knives from New graham. The para 2 is a great knife for edc. The Sharpmaker is the only sharpener I will use, just watch the DVD that comes with. Many people don't know this, but Spyderco started off as a sharpening company.

Spyderco Para 2 is my favorite Great knife - you won't be disappointed!

Edited to add: actual information

- It is very light
- solid, durable construction
- not too big for EDC
- fantastic ergonomics
- full flat grind makes for an extremely sharp knife with great slicing ability
- It is not a prybar - thin-ish tip - not a problem if you use a knife as it should be used
- the DLC (diamond like coating - black blades) is the best I've seen on blades - very tough/durable
- the compression lock is very strong/robust
- i like it so much it is the only knife I've purchased 3 of - at one time!

I've got my eyes peeled for a camo scale / black blade one. Once I see a good price it'll be mine.

I think it is their best knife in the catalog and probably my favorite. I

well my new one arrived yesterday. I must say, all in all, I'm very pleased with the knife. I can definitely see it staying in my collection and being an active part of the everyday carry rotation.

Some of my opinions:
- Its pretty sharp but not the sharpest knife I own. But I'm not going to hold it to that because someone else did own it and carry it for a day or two. But the steel and grind leave me to believe that this thing will be scary sharp with minimal effort.
-The Compression Lock mechanism is awesome. Rock solid both deployed and closed. I'm a fan of the function. I love how solid this thing locks closed.
- I am not a fan of the Compression Lock's release on the spine of the handle. I'm getting better at it but I'm a liner / frame lock guy for the most part. So this is taking some getting used to.
- Ergonomics are excellent, this knife feels really good in the hand. The choil and jimping make the knife very grippy. Shape and size of the handle are about perfect for my hands.
- The thumb rest on the back of the blade isn't in all that comfy of a spot for my grip. It seems to "short" for my grip. But the jimping is nice and grippy so I'm sure it'll work. I'm just used to placing my thumb a little more forward on the back of the blade is all.
- G10 is nice and grippy without being over-the-top. Kind of the perfect balance. They did a good job.
- The G10 is translucent. Wasn't really expecting that. Not sure how I feel about it. Its not as bad as some that I've seen though. Just be forewarned its not a solid G10 with camo pattern but a translucent "glow in the dark" looking G10 with the camo pattern printed on it. The last three pictures below kind of reveal that a little.
- The "tip down" configuration it came to me in rides great in the pocket. I'm usually a "tip up" guy but I tried that and went back to down. It just rides too well like that, its making me think about switching up a couple more of my knives to give it a whirl.

My overall impression is that this will be a very functional knife that I'll get lots and lots of enjoyment out of as a user. I picked it up for $99 so it definitely seems to be worth the money I paid for it. I've seen them for around $115 brand new and I think that's probably about right too.

I have it pictured below with some of my other favorites just so you get an idea:

Top to bottom:

Emerson CQC-7V, ZT0350, Spyderco Paramilitary 2, ZT0550, ZT0561, Strider PT on the side
