Good morning,

I just published my comparative review of these three great knives:

Comparison: The Umnumzaan vs. The SnG vs. The XM-18

Enjoy - I hope the comparison promotes civil discussion regarding the relative merits of these three great knives.

I thought your review was very well done and indeed, I learned a few things about the Hinderer that I didn't know before. I don't own any of the 3 brands, so I can't really comment on your rankings; other than to say that I agree 100% with your decision to factor in customer support, especially if the products are all so very well made that you must find some kind of way to break the tie.

What really peaked my interest in this review is that it compared 3 different models of knives which I'd like to own. I won't go as far as to say that your review solely determined my 1st choice; but, the great pics and comparisons did indeed confirm some pertinent attributes of each. As such, my new Umnumzaan will be at my doorstep next Tuesday.

Aside from of couple of points you hit on with the Chris Reeve Umnumzaan; 1) Availability & 2) Support, there's a few other factors that significantly influenced my choice of the Boss. 1) I'm infatuated with the blade shape. 2) I already have too many tactical looking folders & 3) The scales on the Umnumzaan match the slide serrations on my Wilson Combat X-Tac to a tee.

Not a bad review, the ONLY thing that I would say is that there have been a few horror stories of CRK customer service on the bladeforums reguarding flipping or flicking the knife open with your wrist. he considers that "abuse" on a $425 knife.

For a modest fee, CRK will refurbish any of their knives – so hard use them with confidence.

That's because it is, regardless of the cost of the knife. Just like wrist-snapping the cylinder of a revolver, or slingshot a 1911 slide on an empty chamber. They'll all likely take the abuse for many years without a noticeable increase of play, tolerances or malfunction. However, you'll extend the life of your tool if you don't subject them to bad practices or abuse on a routine basis.

You'd have to loosen my Sebenza WAY up to flick it up with your wrist anyway. One of my coworkers can flick it open with his thumb, but I can't even manage that (I'm left handed, and the thumb stud is for right handed use). I'm not big on flicking them open anyway. That's what my AFO is for.
