Benefit? That is up to you. I suggest that you study the history of ESEE knives, find out why they dropped Ontario and went with Rowen, and know what the issues were. Also, find out what the current warranty is for the previous models. THEN, decide if there is any real difference. That will tell you if there is any benefit to you.

Arguably better quality heat treat, higher level of fit and finish with the Rowen manufactured ESEE/RAT knives vs the ontarios.

Here are a couple of mine, not the best picture as the focus is on the background.

I'll have to work on taking one of the whole family that was just what I had on me.

I'd shown the 4 that I'd put an ironwood handle on. I've finished it's big brother now too. Off to put them through their paces the next couple weeks.

Those look really good. Nicely done.

Traded a Benchmade Nimravus that I literally never used to a coworker for an ESEE 6. He stripped the finish off, blued it, and dyed the scales black with RIT dye. I have no idea what I'm going to do with this big ol' thing, but I just love the feel of it.

I handled a 5 the other day and really liked it, but I don't think I'd want that much weight on a belt that's already heavy. I'd go with the 4. I'd even pick the 6 over the 5 for carrying on a belt I think.

I carry the 3mil on my warbelt, works well. I just got a LS in today and I like it better than the 5 and it is still a bit smaller than the 6. Good blade.

If you're walking around more than riding around I would go with the 3 or 4 or even consider the 6. The .25 thick stock of the esee 5 makes for a fairly hefty knife.

I had the 3 for a while on my 6004, then got a 4, which is as big as I'll go. The 5 and 6 are too big as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not sure, but you might ask on the Jungle forums. It's the official ESEE forums.

Wait, you had a -4 ... on a 6004? ... Genius! Ya. We are going to need pics.

Nice kydex. Did you do it yourself? I've been tossing around the idea of getting set up myself.

I did a unit special order with Esee and couldnt be happier.

Esee was unbelievably professional and courteous during the entire ordering process. I'm pretty hard to impress and not so nice to deal with, but I cant say enough good things about Esee customer service (Jodi in particular) and the quality of their products.

Esee has a customer for life with me.

Since we couldnt decide on color, I of course went the AR15.com route and ordered them all!

Picked up my first two Esse knives! Both are great, and I like the Izula even more than I thought I would. I love to think up any lame excuse so I can put it to use!

I have been looking into these knives after recently buying a Kabar. I've recently taken an interest in full tang survival-type knives after investing in a few Benchmade folders. The BK2 is a stout knife to be sure. The more I read about and look at the ESEE brand, the stronger I feel that I need one.

allright guys, its been talked about non stop on here. 3 vs. 4.
im torn between the 2.

i like the 3 for its smaller blade but dont like the looks of the injection molded sheath that i will probably swap out for a kydex later on down the road.
the 4 already comes with the kydex sheath but ive heard it can be bulky. im torn

what would you do in my situation?

ESEE 3 + Godspeed sheath sounds like what you need.

I own both and prefer the 3. When i first bought both of them i was all about the 4, it seemed like the perfect size and weight for a hard use knife and i liked that it had a little more blade and felt like it was "better" because it was thicker. But, as i used them more and more i found the 3 was able to do everything the 4 could and being lighter it was much more comfortable on my waist. One of the biggest drawbacks for me, as you mentioned, is the factory sheath so i found a kydex taco style on ebay for 15 bucks. The 3 is pretty much my "go to" knife for any outdoor activity.

Yep. The -4 is a lot of knife. If the -3 will work for you, just pick up a kydex for it and sell the factory (or keep as a spare).

I finally got a Junglas! Its been a long time coming since its the 3rd one i've purchased. The 1st was missrepresented and the 2nd was lost in the mail so i had to file Paypal claims both times to get my money back. I picked this 1 up on ebay a few days ago for what i feel was an awesome price.

I really like that its 3/16" since every other chopper i have is 1/4". Theres no doubt in my mind the Junglas can handle everything i throw at it.
