Decided to get into the 50cal world.  I would like to hear experiences with Serbu's BFG50 and the Ferret50 upper.

You're only about $1000 away from something like a Barrett M99.

Owning both, There's a definitive difference in quality.

I do enjoy the extra steel between my face and the chamber on the M99.

Don't even travel down the 50BMG upper path.

An extra $1000 in the grand scheme of things on a gun that shoots $3.00-$8.00 per round ammo is pretty irrelevant after a short time.

Are these uppers unsafe or is their performance disappointing?  Trying to get in to 50 without investing a lot.  Still need a good scope.  Did look at Barret's site.  99 is nice, $4200

Damn $4200 now? Those are getting steep for no more than what there is to it.

Supposedly the Ferret is super duper accurate.

I have a State Arms.  I like it a lot, but I would rather have a traditional bolt.

My next one, if I get another, will either be the AR-50 or the BA-50.

My Serbu 50 is hard to beat.  Good solid gun and accurate.

I only have 300 yards at the farm right now, but it will throw 5 in the same hole using just cheap m33 ball pulled reloads.  218 grains wc867 and an m33 and you are good to go.

One side note if you reload, the chambers are a bit picky and you need to make sure you resize the brass correctly.

Plus the customer service is second to none, Mark posts on here and actually answers the phone sometimes when you call them.

That has been my experience with my Serbu BFG 50 as well. Good shooter and solidly made.

Thanks for everyone's help.  Emailed Serbu for expected lead time for the BFG-50.  I understand there may be a couple months wait.

Give them a call. Sometimes Mark himself will answer the phone.
