Does anyone here know if 50 BMG Supply loads their ST rounds with less powder that the standard rounds?

That's what I was thinking. I got a couple rounds from them, one to keep and one to shoot. I guess the best way to do it without tearing them down is to do a comparison. The brass and bullet weights should be a known factor within a few grains. Might be able to figure out an approximate powder charge.

I think weighing the loaded cartridge is probably a poor way to get an accurate estimate of powder in the round.

Brass weighs a lot more than propellant, and a small deviation in the casing would equate to a large deviation in powder, by weight... How many times the case had been fired, how much it had been trimmed and who made it would be variables you couldn't account for.  I think the only way to get an accurate weight is to pull the bullet and dump the powder.

Whete do you guys get 190 as a max loading?

Hodgon powers list data from 225 up to 265 grs

I personally use 200 grs of h50bmg pulldown powder.

If you load to even 225 expect blown primers and bad things to happen, if you load to 265 good luck as you are now testing beyond the limits of what the chamber pressure was designed for.

I started out at 210 and burned indentations in my bolt face from blown primers and every primer that didn't blow were completely smooshed. I was lucky and took the remaining rounds and pulled the bullet and  now load to 190 and it works much better.

I load em with 180 grains of WC 867 with no issues.
