Well I received this this morning.
Dear Valued Customer, I am sorry to inform you that we have to cancel your order. We can not get Raufoss rounds at this time. The supplier will not sell us rounds due to new government regulations. We will keep everyone's information and contact you if we are able to get more rounds at a later time. |
Same here. I wonder if someone snitched. Anybody want to sell a round?
how would one really know if they have a real Raufoss and not a repainted API round?
Xray. I have a feeling those are real. I don't know if API rounds are still made.

Here's the archived thread for when someone was selling fakes on gunbroker.

Guess I'll tuck them away as collector pieces. |

After doing some thinking on this I'm kinda aggravated. I and a few others ordered before some others and we ordered 5. What 50bmg supply did was get the most cash first instead of filling orders as they came in. I have ordered from them in the past but after this I'll be taking my business elsewhere. |
I think my order was ahead of others as well but I never got any. I ordered 20.
As far as I know there are no other places to get them in quantity and from a reliable source. |
Yea, they are unobtainable. I was going to order some more apit, incendiary and ball tips. They lost a customer over this.
I ordered 2 of each APIT, AP, API, Incendiary, and ST in new brass. One of each for collecting and one of each just try even though I have shot AP and API.
I thought about 9-10 years ago Mk211 cost about $7-8 per round, seriously doubt they have increased to that much now......
That's what the Military paid/pays for them, I have never seen any that cheap. Even before most people knew about them, the cheapest I've ever seen them for sale was $15 each.
That was about 20 years ago when all you ever saw was a couple for sale at one time. Not like the ammo cans full of them that come along now. Supply and demand will only run the price up over $100+ if none are available in the future. That's what happens to stuff when it's no longer available. Look at blue tip .50 ammo and components, just the projos are running $1.50 or more. They used to be pennies but because they haven't been made since WWII and are almost extinct, everyone wants some. If you can find any Raufoss for sale, buy them and put them in your ammo collection. In another 20 years they might be worth $500 each. Unless they stay on the market |
I jumped on the 2 I saw for $29ea from a reputable place. That's why I posted the pics above, & inquired if they were real...price as "cheap"

So did anyone get any? I have the opportunity to put some 50 down range and use a Phantom High Speed Camera, and would love to use some Mk211.
I picked up some of the projos that were for sale, I keep them with a couple rounds that I have out of state.
It was worth the price as you rarely see them for sale. |
It still ticks me off what they did. Like another member said, I bet they sent out single units only so they could make more money.
I also bought some for my collection. Got some new headstamps and extra projectiles.
Does anyone have information on or a reference for the amount of PETN/RDX in the Mk 211 projectile?
Thanks! |
Here's what I got.
9.2gr of Zirconium 13gr I-136 Incendiary. 15.4gr Comp A-4 explosive. |
Many thanks for the quick and helpful reply!
Are those weights in grains or grams? Also, do you have a published reference for the weights? Much-appreciated! |
I think that it's grains, I got the info from Keith Pagel. Hes the 50 ammo guru for the FCSA and the rest of the world.
Seriously though, he knows his stuff and is a great person for info on the 50 BMG. |
Great work .50 Shooter, I really appreciate it!
Let me know if I can ever return the favor. Happy Holidays and Best Regards, Max |
I have a video of a night shot of one of these hitting a rather large boulder, shot out of a suppressed Barrett M99. I have no idea how to post it from my google drive however.

I am a little surprised there is no regular commercial source for this ammunition...anyone know a type 10 that would be up to the challenge?

Hi guys, I have some more 211 bullets if your interested. Don
