Hello all,

I'm thinking of getting into the .50 game, and was wondering what the going rate for lightly used Barrett 82A1's is.

Funny thing.., I am already set up to reload... at a 3-gun match I won a .50 BMG press, and I've already been collecting brass and projos. Now I just need to find something to run with...

gunbroker shows about 8K bare gun. I'd figure for a turnkey M82A1 you're looking at about 10K for scope,mount, mags, cleaning kit, some ammo, etc.

8-11k.

Might spend 3k on a good bolt first, and figure out if it is really for you.

You can pick up a decent bolt gun for a lot less to see if you really get into it. I just paid under $2000 shipped for a Serbu bolt action with a nitrided barrel, bipod, case, etc. It was a group buy that is already closed, but decent starter guns are available for a decent price. If money is no option, then buy whatever you have always dreamed of!

I saw one for sale on the biggerhammer.net barrett board this morning and it looked like a pretty good deal to me:

M82a1, Nightforce 5.5-22x NSX, Barrett BORS, case, software, ect. for $11k shipped.

That's a pretty good package deal for 11k

This. I started out on one of those .50 BMG AR uppers I got on a trade. Moved up to an AR50 that I really am enjoying now. Figure I'll wade into Barrett waters in the next year or so.

Save yourself some cash and get one of these uppers. Reload for it to get comfortable. then upgrade the next best thing if you decide 50 BMG is what you want.
