I was looking at CTD for a price comparison. I noticed they have the M@ AP that has been mentioned in here before.

I noticed they have another M2 ammo listing that they list as 709gr just like the AP above. They call it ball ammo and the tips aren't painted though.

Is that correct?

They also have a M33 ball listing from the same era and plant. They have it listed as 660gr though. Some of the picture are even the same as the M2 ball ammo.

I wish I could get 10 rounds each of the M2 ball and M2 AP for collecting purposes. I'm not sure I'd want to shoot 50 BMG ammo that old.

The ammo changed over the years to keep up with other changes in ammo like API, APIT... They needed to keep the ammo shooting into the same beaten zone.

If it has been stored properly, there's nothing wrong with it and the brass is better then most on the market today. So don't be afraid to shoot it.

When I was in the Army, we shot WWII ammo all the time and never had an issue. Don't worry about people saying that the powder might've broke down, primers unreliable...BS!

Buy some and have fun shooting it and proving people wrong.

Yeah but you have those that buy it and try to mark up the price...

Like the poster, I only want a handful of each to test out at the range. If I like then I'll buy more to shoot. Might add one of each to my collection also.

That would need to go to PM's and not here.

Another possibility on the 700 gn ball.
There's a good chance that it might be South African.
The folks at 50 BMG Supply still have several cans of the pulled projos.
