What are you guys using for pulling the .510's?  The Grip n Pull tool is the type I was looking for but they don't make one for .510....just .500

I use a copper tubeing flare tool. Its like a pair of midevel stocks. It has 6 different size holes on it. I use the biggest one with a piece of leather or rubber in there and clamp the tool around it. Then use my reloading press to pull it out. It can leave maks sometimes but it works.

5c collet block set and a 12mm collet works well.  Just run the cartridge up through the die hole, clamp the bullet and lower the ram.
Helps to break the asphalt seal in the neck of surplus ammo by seating the bullet a little deeper first.

Yes Taylor.... I'm aware of that option but I don't own any precision equipment to do that properly.

Yeah...looks like the way to go.  Where do I get the 12mm collet then?

Yup...I have one of those but I'm looking for something faster and cleaner.

5c is a standard. 5c collects work in a 5c block.

BTW it works real good in my Lee classic press.

I'm on the road now, but I found that the nearest non-metric equivalent (33/64" IIRC) collet works just as well and was significantly cheaper than going metric.

A 13mm collet works better. Since our bullets are actually .510, you are going to have a hard time getting it out of the collet once you pull it if you use a 1/2" collet.

Mr. Ben said to use a 12mm and I've seen that elsewhere too.  I've also seen a 13mm recommended....is there a correct answer to this?

I got my 33/64" 5C collet from here.  It should be noted that 13mm=.512" and 33/64"=.516", both slightly bigger than 1/2".

12mm = 0.4724"
13mm = 0.5118"

50BMG projectiles measure 0.5105" = my choice is 13mm 5C collet in a 5C Collet Block on top of press.

5C collets are hardened & ground, unless you are working with an Emergency 5C Collet or brass collets.

Does CH4D still make a collet type puller for BMG?  I have one and it works great.

Agreed. Unless your like me and quite a few others who bought the Lee CC press. Then these screw in pullers do not fit the Lee press. Then the 5C collects are one possible answer.
