I'm thinking about punting my MCX after the recall BS and replacing it with a 16 in FDE. I really love my 17. Where do I get one?  Are they done in batches like the 17's?  I'm thinking they should go for around 2500?

I haven't seen a fde one in stock in awhile. That and even the ones in stock are still hovering 2800 and north of that. If you are patient and can wait they should start to settle but I don't think we are there yet. To my understanding they are done in batches. I've seen the black ones in stock most places like palmetto, but not near the 2500 mark. I do think they will get there in the coming year.

Meh, I have 2 17s and thought I wanted a 16, too.  Got the 16 and then sold it pre election.  Like my sr15s and ACR better than the 16s.

The 17 is a marvel of engineering, dough.

If I could find a tan ACR I'd jump on it over the scar. They seem to be rarer than hens teeth.

Yeah they come in waves like the 17's do. I was kinda in the same boat, I picked one up since I had 17 already and wanted something in 5.56. Though I ended up liking the 16 alot better.

Both pinned and welded to 16.1 with MAMs.  ACR has a DD lightweight 1:7 twist barrel with Marvin's gas system.

Your ACR was modified to where it should have been had Bushmaster/Remington done it the right way.  They killed such a promising rifle.

ACRs are just so sexy looking. Like poster above said, too bad they killed it.

I ordered a FDE SCAR 16 from a dealer in April 2016. 6 months later they finally got in a single 16 from their large order, and it was black. They offered it to me since I'd been waiting so long, and I picked it up as it was right before the election even though I really wanted an FDE one. I don't think they've still had a FDE come through yet.

I do have a FDE ACR that I like also.

As you mention, they certainly do seem to come in batches. Prices ebb and flow considerably based on where you're purchasing in that cycle. This is true of most of FN's offerings. I've not owned a 16, but love my 17 to death. I'm sure it's equally great, the only thing is that there is a lot stiffer competition in the next gen 5.56 market niche than the 7.62 battle rifle niche.

Me too but I'd take one in black.

Just a heads up to you all wanting an FDE 16S, my buddies shop in Merritt Island, Florida has ONE 16S and its an FDE one in stock. He's a touch over $2,500 for it NIB. The Gun Site. Since they're tough to find thought I'd let you know.

I dunno about FDE but my local shop had a black one today. I think they had it marked at like 2900 though. Tempting.

It seems like they are becoming more and more obscure. People that want them probably have them already. The rest aren't going to be converted over from AR's or AK's.

I read this thread, and for some odd reason, still question if I should sell my 16s. As amazing as the scar is, sadly I don't shoot it enough. :/
