Hey all, I realize the MK16 SCAR-L isn't fielded within SOCOM anymore (but possibly individual unit purchases), but I was wondering if anyone knew what the currently issued flash hider is for the SCAR MK16/17? Is it still the AAC 18t for MK16 and AAC 18t MITER for the MK7?

I also read that the ECP flash hider is now being issued. Does anybody have any insight? Thanks!

For the Mk17, it's going to be the OEM flash hider for mounting the FN QD can. Of course, I'm basing this off of recent pics that are available.

I got this pic from Combat_Diver when I inquired about Mk17 stuff (was hoping the hear of SureFire cans being used, but no joy ):

Here's the FN QD can (non-CD pic):

For the Mk16 (or conversions), I have never seen the FN QD can, only the AAC can. I would expect the AAC to still be use on 556 stuff.

This is only a tiny, non-representative sample, but also reflects the only info available to an enthusiast with no access to issued weapons.

Thanks CMC. Much appreciated.  Are you still building a MK17?

Those were prototype rails of a precision rifle version of the MK 17 MOD 0, which eventually developed somewhat convolutedly into the MK 20 MOD 0 SSR.

I'm over-simplifying things, but suffice to say, I don't think they've been made in at least five years, and were only ever for prototype guns, and the rail configuration eventually changed.

No, they are made by FN.

Check page 83: https://www.fnamerica.com/files/3714/5202/7093/3CLB150001_FNH_Catalog_Web.pdf

That said, there are pics floating around of Belgian Special Forces Group using SCAR-Ls with B&T suppressors (it's one I have my eyes on if they bring them into the US).

Yeah, it's built-up with approved Form 1. I have it Navy style with CQC barrel, Atlas bipod, and NF scope (x32) and rings. I also have the L3/Insight MRDS with scope ring mount on it and it's pretty sick.

I would feel a lot better about it if I could get a NF 3.5-15.x50 and FN QD suppressor for it, but those are not in the cards for the moment (the latter is a pipe dream---so the SOCOM-762RC will have to do for now).

More evidence of the OEM flash hider on current factory SBR barrels being the one issued, as well as the FN QD suppressor (from KDG's Facebook page, apparently it's the issue SOCOM kit):
