Pretty straight foward,

I need a rifle in 30 caliber variety and only really want to buy once. The scar 17 seems to fit that build. Only thing is now that I have the cash the price went up a lot. Should I wait or pay more for one or go with another platform like lmt or lwrc etc?

I'd wait.  I sold my 17s and a FDE 16 a few years back.  I want to pick up another pair (16 & 17) in FDE, but not at current prices.  At $3,500ish for a nib 17, it quickly becomes a $4,500 - $5,000 gun after you fix the trigger, add a rail, improve the buttstock and add a few other odds and ends.

The MWS is a damn nice rifle right out of the box, love mine.

They have been 2500 to 3000 for 5 years now,  what are you expecting them to drop to?

What's the high price?  I just got a nib for 3100 and only waited five days for it. I'm not taking any chances and hedging my bets before November.

I picked up a new FDE 17 for $2400 and a new FDE 16 for $2100 back in 2013.

I think that was a fair price for each rifle.  I wouldn't pay 3k or more for a 17.

I traded my Desert Tech in .338 lapua and S&B optic for a FDE 17, DBAL-i2, Atlas Bipod, Surefre light, 7 mags and $1500.  It was worth the price of admission to me.

I'll wait for the pistol versions.

I'm in the same boat waiting on a SCAR 17 to come available.  I'm not paying more than 3gs for one.

I'd hate to spend over 3k for one. I've had one on order for seven months now and I'm getting a little impatient as well

How long has it been since black SCAR 17s were available ?  Looks like the batch of recall guns were all FDE.

I have been looking for a while with new luck other than the $3400+ on gunbroker.

Honestly, if you don't get one now, don't expect to pick one up at a reasonable price till 2018.

In my opinion, if trump gets elected prices will normalize in 6 to 10 months maybe less.  If hillary gets it, well good luck.

I found a Black 17S at a LGS for $2800 + Tax back in June. I went ahead and scooped it up. Found a slightly used 16S FDe on GB last month for $2700. It came with a Gisselle Trigger and Vltor stock. Deals are out there.

Same boat.  I have been waiting, cash in hand, but at this point I am wondering if any will be back in stock before the election.

Get it now, and thank me later. You'll love it and will be glad you have it. You may end up overspending a couple hundred, or you may spend $1k more, or worse, never have the chance.

Since you asked.... can't go wrong with an LMT.

I have zero complaints with my LMT MWS. For factory rifles, it's one of the top 5, imo.

What's a fair price for a FDE Scar 17, Super SCAR Trigger, GG&G tripod, Trijicon TR23 AccuPoint 5-20x50 Riflescope and 5 FN FDE and 10 Black 20 round factory mags?

Going to a swap meet this weekend.

Can't do over 3k. I guess I'll just wait and maybe I'll find one at an unbeatable price

Prices will normalize either way. They'll just do so quicker if Trump wins. I can wait until 2018. The FDE SCAR 17 I want is a post-86 MG anyway, so it won't be affected.

There are a few fair deals out there but people want to sell them with all the mags and accessories which raises the price significantly.  To find a 17 under $3k would mean to find someone that is selling a bare bones rifle, but those go quicker because of the lower price.

Over all I was expecting a bigger panic but I'm sure that if, God forbid, clinton wins then we will see 2013 all over again.  I'm probably wrong but just incase I bought a scar 16 .
