Took a pic of the Mk20 at the FNH booth.  Rep said the price would be in the low $4k area.

Are the releasing the mk20 stock with the civilian model or the AR15 style?

Thanks for taking the pic and sharing!

That price is not so obnoxious and I'm sure they will sell a good bunch. I would love to have one to round out my SCAR collection, but I am not sure I have the location to utilize that rifle's capabilities, especially given I have the 17S with standard and CQC barrels. (Plus, I still need NODs).

I've heard reports about FN saying they will bring 20" barrels and stocks for existing 17s owners.  Any validity to that statement?

Nice! I want one! in 6.5 lol

If they sell for $4000-$4500 FN will sell them easily here in the states I think.

i think price maybe closer to $6K.

Am I the only one who prefers the old PR top rail only extension?

Granted, I'm going on nothing but looks, don't have a SCAR-H, probably won't for a long time, if ever, and probably even longer before I would get a MK 20, but it does seem to make a bit of sense to me in terms of weight savings, while leaving the top rail for clip-on sights, etc.

I want that stock for my 17s.  I have since I bought my 17s.  FN better sell it!

Is our military using SR25s or the MK20s now?

Yes.  It depends on the branch/unit.  I havent seen the MK20 in ARSOF yet, just M110s and MK17s on our team.

So what is FN bringing to market? An actual mk20 clone or the CSR? I'd definitely be interested in a mk 20 upper.

Probably right.  It is still beyond me why no one has made a comparable stock.  Magpul could make a variant of the PRS.....

I'm wondering this too. The CSR seems to be a 16" rifle with the dumb AR-stock adapter. I want the Mk20 barrel and stock.

Vickers has a video talking to the Rep about it, he's holding the CSR. Says it has a 16 in barrel but does have the mk20 stock.  Not sure what to think?

Both.

The CSR is a lighter compact version of the Mk20.

Spoke to an FN rep at the show I'm at today and both the CSR and SSR are being released.

Let's be clear too; this is not a Mk20 clone, it is the Mk20 being made available to the commercial market.  As I understand it, the Mk20 being released is the exact same gun that is issued to SOCOM.  I think that's pretty damn cool.  I'm also excited to see the CSR as it should be a little more affordable with most of the features I want in the Mk20 anyway.

If yours is FDE, I'll buy it; been wanting to get a 17 for a while.

O have the more accurate black version. Great gun, wouldn't even consider selling it if the mk20 wasn't going to cost close to 5k lol... I need a second job.

Interesting. I've thought about getting a precision semiauto .308 rifle, and was leaning towards the SR25. But I think I read somewhere that they're getting replaced now by the MK20. Any idea if that's the case?

And anyone know what kinda accuracy the MK20 is getting? I'm not really sure how they've made a Scar17 into an accurate precision rifle platform.

The SCAR has always been an accurate rifle platform, most able to deliver sub MOA groups with good ammo/optics/trigger/SHOOTER. The MK20 gives a longer barrel that has 6 barrel screws instead of 4 for stability/accuracy, a better trigger and the fully adjustable stock. All this in theory gives it MOA out to 1000 yards. What little has been posted by actual user in the field of the MK20 shows it's been a good gun for our troops but there is very little info out there. Ought to be a good rifle and while I like FN products, for this application I'd probably get a SAKO......shooting 308 at 1000yds isn't about speed.

Interested in updates as well. Not sure it's worth the $5-6K price tag for me though... partly because I like my 17 with a PRS and I'm not sure what (other than a longer barrel) this offers.

At first, I was really excited about this coming to the civilian market, but honestly, the more I think about it, the more I'm thinking I'd probably rather have my 17S. The 17S is already accurate as hell - especially for a gun that wasn't designed to be a precision rifle really. It's plenty capable (with the right ammo, glass, trigger, shooter, etc) of precision work (perhaps not quite as precision as the SSR, but good enough for practical work anyway). It's also lighter and shorter than the SSR.

Don't get me wrong, if money was no issue, I would love to have one (SSR), but the 17S is already such a fantastic rifle, I just can't see spending that kind of money for something that probably isn't THAT much better. Of course, I'm only speculating anyway.

It sure is a badass rifle though.
