I've searched high and low locally to find a gun shop with fde 17s in stock and found only two places - both want $2,850. Way too much or about par these days?

I would say $2500-$2700 is about right. I got mine for $2700 from a member here in Texas with only 20 rounds through it. Not having to go through an FFL or worry about paying taxes was worth the little extra to me.

Honestly, I can of wish I had gotten black. While I like the way the FDE looks, I am more partial to black rifles.

There are 2 gun stores near me has a FDE SCAR 17. One has it for $2650, the other for $3150

Still cheaper to order online and pay the shipping and transfer fee, because you'd get rapped on the sales tax.

Yeah, if I do end up getting the SCAR 17, it will most definitely be via online.

I've called places around here near me and the cheapest anyone locally has it in store is $2,799, which of course, does not include sales tax.

One place said they had one for sale at $3,199 - really? That's outrageous.

Dean Forest Guns near our shop had one on the wall this week for $2700. Don't know if it's still there or not.

You think that is bad. When I was looking for a SCAR17, Cabelas in Buda, TX had one in stock. $3400 before tax.
