It's not that mags are hard to produce at all. The problem happened when SOCOM doubled their order of SCAR-H's. Each SCAR-H going to SOCOM needs 10 mags per rifle. When SOCOM changed their order, FNH had to scramble to suppy the requisite number of mags with the rifles. That left a shortage of mags on the civilian side. There is a significant number of 17S mags on the way. They should be hitting the markets very soon (next 4-6 weeks) if delivery timelines are kept.

I need to see to believe!!!

Ive heard so many different things in the last year or so that I dont know what to think. Whatever the issue is,it still sucks for the civilian market.

If USSA-1 states this information as fact then you count on it. I am in need of 17s mags also, just not sweatin' it.

Watch Gunbroker.

http://tacticalfirearms.us/ out of Katy, TX, had some 400 of them a month back for $40-50 apiece. They listed them. They got some contract magazines that were rejected for cosmetic purposes. I picked up a few - they function flawlessly, and I don't know what "cosmetic" reason they were failed for - they look brand new. I doubt they have any left or any new source, but if you're desperate, you could try.

Brownells is taking pre-orders now, which I hadn't seen before.

Maybe the 4-6 week wait is true, but FN's been saying that for quite a while now.

Just called Brownells. The lady said the estimate arrival date of those mags was the first of May but not set in stone. I asked how many they were getting and she responded "quite a few".

Just pre-ordered some. Add code DQX for free shipping over $125.

Does Brownell's charge for preorders immediately or when it ships?

This is the reason I can't get mags - you guys are hoarding mags and you don't even own a rifle yet ! I've had this damn rifle for over a year and still only have 1 mag. I finally said f'it and preordered 10 from Brownells. I hope they come through, but I'm not holding my breath on this anymore. I don't know what FN's problem is.

Im ok with not having any mags, gives me a reason to reload .223 instead of .308; powder lasts longer that way.

Word is 7,000 mags went out to distributors this month.

Brownells and Midway should start filling backorders pretty soon.

Start checking your sources again and see if the mags have made it into the pipelines.
