Fantastic work, I just don't like how small the shoulder becomes when the 16" SCAR barrel is cut.

With the shoulder that thin, there isn't much left to support the muzzle device or spacer or crush washer.

Just my opinion but choosing a weapon by looks is not really the smartest thing in my book....

im not chosing it for looks, i like the folding adjustable stock, my g36 doesnt have that, and so far the scar weighs less than the acr, and has a 1/7, plus is getting fielded by some .mil units....

Let's NOT turn this into an ACR versus SCAR thread.

As far as the small shoulder goes; my Colt 6450 has a chopped pencil barrel and I have experienced zero problems.

Cheers

Well, I just shipped off my barrel and AA blackout flash hider to Marvin. Im looking forward to getting it back. Its not a good feeling to have a disabled SCAR.
He claims a 2 week turnaround. I hope so. The rifle should look and feel better with the 14.5 bbl.

For anyone else getting their barrel done beware of the countersunk cap screw that hold the bottom rail to the bbl. Mine stripped out. It wouldnt budge for me. I had to drill it out and retap the hole. ( 10-32 threads ). I bought a pack of 100 allen head cap screws and torx head screws to replace the factory piece. If anyone has the same problem let me know Ill mail you a 10-32 screw.

Marvin's machine work is worth the wait. There are many on this board including myself that can attest to this; see my dimpled MRP barrel on the "badness" thread for example. Keep in mind that he maintains a fulltime job and does this on the side.

Cheers

I've done business with Marvin before. Definatly top notch in every way.

Good to hear. Dont worry. I would not have sent my barrel to him if I didnt see the quality work that he has done.
I didnt quite trust anyone else. I was going to cut it myself and thread it.
After seeing who sent there barrels to him and seeing his pics and comments, I realized that Marvin knew what he was doing.
Im know that my barrel is in good hands. Im just anxious to get it back and get the gun running again.

So, when do we get an update on how it runs? Ill be sending my barrel before I fly back to Hawaii, hopefully the next time I visit SD I'll have a SCAR CQC with AAC can attached to shoot at dogs with.

Me too. Does the barrel need that shoulder area for the crush washer? I intend to put one QD flash hider on there and leave it.

You might be stuck with peel washers if youre worried about timing, not a bad thing.

You could always put on a Vortex. It's what I have on mine.

OK, Ive been questioning a barrel expert about the scar shoulder issue b/c it has me concered.....apparently a shoulder can be added after the chop. Might as well right?
