Um... use a KAC muzzle device?

May be what will happen, was hoping to save myself $600 buying two PWS brakes instead of 2 triple taps. Not too big on the idea of using a flash hider on a 10" barrel with a can that cost me over $1500 after tax.

Why don't you use the standard KAC QD instead of triple tap?

Cheers

Ive got QD flash hiders on everything 14.5" and longer, if I ever do a 12.5" build Ill probably run one on there as well. Saving my can from short barrel wear and tear with brakes, rather replace a brake than a suppressor. I shoot at least 90% of the time suppressed.

edit* Couple shorty's waiting for their suppressor mounts...

I hope it works out with the PWS brakes. Are there any other compensators besides the PWS or KAC triple taps. Ironically I have a KAC trip tap on my KAC SR-15 IWS that prevents me from shooting SR-15 with my SF can.

Cheers

As far as I know the only mounts for the NT4 on the market are the QD flash hider, triple tap, and PWS brake.

You can see the gas control screw in there. And as you can see, it can't fall into the barrel. :)

You access it through the top of the gas block after removing the regulator plug. This makes tuning the cyclic rate of the SCAR very easy.

The screws cost $5 each and can be ordered from FNH/Broiwning, Midwest Gun Workls, Hi Desert Dog, and maybe Brownells. They come in 20 different sizes. The "size" numners we refer to are the last 3 digits of the part number.

Thanks for the pic. Took my SCAR down to pretty much parts today. I had a hard time finding a screwdriver that would fit. I just eyeballed the width and then took a Dremel with a grinder on it to an old flat head screwdriver. I barely had to put any force on it. It came right out. I put in an order to ADCO and off the barrel goes tomorrow.
I first came to this site for the storehouse of knowledge here, but stayed for the hate.~ColKlink

Ok, just got my barrel back from Marvin. He chopped it to 10". I have the screws from FN. Do I loctite the screw in place once I found the right one?

No; just hand tighten. The gas plug will keep the screw from backing out were it to come loose. After a few hundred rounds the screw will be somewhat "copper brazed" in place for lack of a better term.

I am having my barrel cut down to 14.15. Do i need to open the gas port? if it does short stroke, how hard is it to open up the port(screw) myself?

Cheaper and faster to replace the gas screw than it would be to mess with the stock one.

I emailed you some info from the FN forums on part numbers for the size control screw that you might need.
Be sure to try the gun out before making any changes to the gas port. You may be fine with the 14'' barrel.

I drilled mine and it has been running fine for a 1000 rounds or so with mostly PMC but also M855, Wolf, Black Hills , Hornady etc...

I'll bite. Let me check the gun log and give y'all an accurate round count since Marvin chopped the barrel.

And I have about another 3-4 months before I can join you with a sweet 16s 10" SBR.

It's prolly gonna be a long wait for both of us then! Do you have any pics of your 17s with the suppressor mounted?

Cheers

Looks like a 13" with the miter mount. I'm half way to getting my 17s and it'll get a SF MB762SS perm attached at 14.5".

So i have a question about threading the barrel. Is removing the gas block a necessity before threading? I can see when using a CNC machine that cuts threads at a very high RPM the gas block would/could whip around and throw the barrel off center. But if you were doing it on a regular lathe and only spinning at 40-60 RPM, you wouldn't be whipping the gasblock around and could thread it like a regular barrel.
