Nice, that almost exactly how mine will look except with a mk8. This makes the wait that much harder.

Any of you guys have FN FALs as well? I have my SCAR 17 CQC, but the blast from the AAC Brakeout 2.0 is pretty bad with the 13 inch barrel, and running suppressed, well, gun get a little front heavy after a while. Was looking for another .308 battle rifle to burn through some .308 147 grain swag, and saw AIM Surplus was selling the FAL Voyagers for about $1050....

knowing the SCAR is light years ahead of the FAL and understanding that the FAL wont be as light, accurate, or ergo friendly as the SCAR, if you own both, does the FAL still have a place in your range rotation or does it just collect dust?

Going to blast my SCAR 17 CQC a bunch this weekend and see how I feel by the end of it, but going back and forth on picking up a FAL as well at that price point

Digging all the SCARs wearing red dots... i'll have to run a micro on mine and see how I like it

I had a 16 inch FAL.  I loved it.
I sold it to get a SCAR but only because I couldnt afford to just get a SCAR quickly and have both.

Yeah, the SCAR is *better*, but the FAL was really fun to shoot.  I found it to be especially pleasant to handle for some reason that I cant really put my finger on.

I could imagine seeing the day when I bought another one.

I've owned an 18" Imbel FAL and a 16" DSA Para FAL.  The Imbel was a 100% kit build on a Gear Logo receiver with Penguin furniture and I should have never sold it.  The DSA Para was really nice too, however the para stock is a little uncomfortable.  I saw that same deal at Aim recently and it definitely re-kindled the FAL flame, however I have too many other projects to jump on it.  $1,000.00 is a bargain for that rifle; too bad the 18" are sold out.

Cheers

Exactly this. Sold my 16" DSA to get another rifle that I traded towards my 17s. Loved the FaL and wish I could have afforded both. Really want a 16" Voyager when funds allow.

At the end of the day, I prefer my 17s for many reasons.

Also, I have the AAC flash hider and it is awesome on my CQC 13". Not too much blast at all, very plesant to shoot all day. I generally run thru 120-140 rounds of ZQI per range trip now that I have my gas screw situation fixed.

The NF is quite an upgrade in the quality/ clarity of the glass.  I was very impressed with it. The 32 lets in all the light needed, but if the 42 fits what your needs are, then definitely get it. I mean its not just the amount of magnification, its how crisp the objects are at 600 yards away.  What special parts can you make out of the target that far out with different scopes at the same power at that distance is what sold me. Its the distance clarity that makes all the difference. This scope does that for me.

I installed the PMM m-lok extended rail, vented bottom rail and ergo side rails.  Installation was a breeze and the fit and finish is outstanding.  Also, slightly lighter than my previous configuration and the add'l real-estate is a nice improvement.  This carbine has had probably every rail available and this configuration is by far my favorite thus far.

5.90 ounces

4.15 ounces

You need some Larue index clips to manage that wire.  Not sure how that zip tie is going to hold up.  What length barrel is that?

The barrel is 10.0", same as SCAR CQC.  Still looking for a wire management solution; not sure how LT index clips would work in the absence of picatinny rails.

I really want to remove the picatinny rails from my 17S and move over to this solution. It extends the handguards "just enough" for what I want. Next on my to-do list.

A friend of mine has the MREX, and while it is very nice, to me it adds enough weight that it takes away from the key feature of the SCAR, and that is it's light weight. He has a setup just like yours in fact. I do however like the MREX, just not the solution I want to go with.

It adds like 2.x ounces or something.

EDIT: Actually, installing the MREX, changing the stock with the ACR stock, and changing the charging handle for KDGs charging handle adds only 2.3 ounces or so to the rifle.

It's a very minimal addition, like literally a few ounces, not something you could detect from holding it in your hand.

Good point. I only shot his once, and he has a Saker 7.62 on it. That was probably the main culprit.
