MI, very nice! Can we see the same setup on a Flat Dark Earth rifle?

My SCAR got a partner today.

Ordered it last Wednesday. Got it today. Now I'm part of the cool kids club.

1) Doing the eForm 1 tomorrow to put a 13" barrel on.

2) Future plans involve a FDE Grip Pod (love those things - got one of each of my two Colt M4 LE6920 SBR uppers, a 10.3" and a 14.5"), Geissele Super SCAR trigger and some fashion of optic - probably an EOTech 553 (SU-231/PEQ) or EXPS3-0 (SU-231A/PEQ) as a stop gap until I can afford an Elcan SpectreDR 1.5x/6x. And obviously an angled charging handle and the metal stock latch. And some fashion of sling points that aren't attached directly to the serialized part of the rifle.

3) Acquire a matching FN SCAR 16 so I can be sporting "twins."

Here is my recent addition:
MI SOCOM M-LOK rail is really nice and light weight.

Looks like a 16" to me but it's early.

Just put the first payments down on a FDE 17S, to be finished upon my return from the desert. I'M SUPER EXCITED. Still having trouble choosing an optic though. Can't decide between either a NF 2.5-10X32 or a Vortex Razor HD Gen II 1-6.

ETA: sorry for owning the page without posting a pic. Give it some time, it'll be here.

To me the Vortex seems like it was made for the Scar but it's very heavy and for some reason I hate that it's SFP. In all honesty though FFP isn't really necessary at that power range. Get with both for mil pricing.

QuickReactions here is my 2 cents: I've had both the Nightforce and the Vortex on my 17. Both were great, but for my purpose I prefer the Vortex. It is a pig, but like Tejas said it fits the role so well, is very usable on 1x and 6x gets me where I need to be distance wise. I had an offset RMR when using the Nightforce as my oh-shit sight as well. That setup has moved to another rifle that fills more of a precision role. The Vortex is definitely capable of accuracy also.

Thank you, Maddy. I think the Razor may be the best choice too. I appreciate your input.

so I have a razor HD II 1-6 on my SCAR-17 right now and it will be a 13 inch barrel soon and im looking at Elcan SpectrDR 1-4s right now... for those of yall that have used both, your thoughts? the FOV on the HD is fantastic, but I feel like I would like the smaller package and shave a few ounces despite the loss in magnification.

Just missed a killer deal on one by a few minutes on the EE, and now im all bent out of shape thinking I need an elcan for my "do it all optic" on my only 7.62 battle rifle... the SCAR is a beast, and instead of swapping out optics all the time between eotechs, aimpoints, and the beast of the razor HD II, I think the Elcan would be a solid compromise between them all...

convince me? thanks guys

You'll definitely notice the weight savings.  Even if you are running the lightest mount possible...two-piece NF Ultralight rings @ 4.125 ounces...your Vortex HD II set-up is weighing 29.325 ounces at minimum.  Substitute a one-piece QD mount and you are well over 32.00 ounces.  The Elcan 1x/4x  and 1.5x/6x optics complete with QD mount weigh in at 22.625 ounces and 25.375 ounces, respectively.

Been running the Elcans hard for years and have never once had an issue with the ARMS levers, maintaining zero after re-mounts, or POI shifts.  Zero on the highest magnification at 100 meters and you're good-to-go.

Not sure why the same image show up twice. Ergo grip modified to fit by High Desert Dog, MI forend, Leupold 2-7x32 VX-R with firedot on an American Defense Mount and a 3LB trigger job. It also has an AAC 7.62SDN can, not shown

Very nice, but I thought that the flash hider is the only AAC muzzle device that you're supposed to use on the SCAR...

Finally came in Wednesay evening, but I couldn't get it until this morning because of Turkey Day. Ive waited a long time to call one mine. Now to send for the Geissele trigger That RCO is just a placeholder for a NF though. Also, please forgive the terrible photo quality. I only have an iPotato and don't have great lighting.

Thank you. Can't wait to sling some lead downrange. Now it's time to send to FNH for the free trigger.
