Thanks! Here's one last pic of my 14" in all of its glory before I dump the extended rail and drop the offset micro dot. Thought I'd be happy with this setup in the long term, but I just can't justify the added bulk and weight in terms of actual performance enhancement. Although I'll be damned if it doesn't look cool.

What adapter are you using to mount the scout?

If there's a mount anywhere on my rifle, it's probably a Larue. LT752 in this case.

What's the barrel length on this bitch? I'm trying to decide if I want to SBR mine or pin it at 14.whatever" to get it nice and handy-like. Yours looks pretty much right one, minus the optic. I'm still saving for my Leupold, so an SWFA will have to do for now. Nice blaster man.
When I see dudes with tanks by their username and nice guns it gives me hope. You know, like - "eventually, steve, you too can be financially secure".

More like dismay when you realize idiots like me are wasting their entire base pay on dumb range toys lol. The barrel is a factory 13" assembly - Which only shaves a bit of weight off the front, but does go a long way towards improved handling. In keeping with the strengths of the SCAR platform I mostly use it as multi-mission capable heavy carbine...

...with the ability to throw on a bipod/suppressor for less mobile activities maintaining a respectable degree of accuracy.

Despite this rifle having recently been through numerous different setups, rails, grips, optics, etc. it would seem this is the one configuration I always come back to (for better or worse.)

Giving this setup a try, loving it so far. Running the new Primary Arms 4-14x44 with the ACSS .308 HUD DMR reticle. So much bang for the buck it's scary. American Defense AD-Recon mount. POS UTG bipod is a placeholder for the Atlas on the way...

Looks sharp. How many rounds do you have down range with that optic? I'm looking for a cheap but decent .308 scope for my Scar until I can get the money to buy a much more expensive one.

Probably in the ballpark of around 200 rounds right now. So far it has been rock solid, I'm very pleased. I think it fits the bill of what you want perfectly. I basically bought it as a placeholder for a more expensive optic down the road, but the glass is so clear, and the reticle is so handy that I'm not finding a good reason to spend more money on anything else!

AAC flash hider that will be swapped very soon for a Surefire FH762K since I have a can for that mount.

BFG padded Vickers sling; i'll be changing it over to the same sling mounting points as my 16s in the near future.

I just put a 1.40 or 1.45 gas control screw in the 13" barrel this morning since it was short stroking with some Wolf 308 which apparently is weak-sauce.

Why does the gap between the gas block and flash hider on this 13" SCAR 17 looks shorter than most?  Optical illusion or?

Probably because that's a reflex can mount and not a end mount.

It's the AAC SCAR-H SD suppressor that was originally issued with the Mk17. Now, I think they come with FN suppressors that mount to the ECP flash suppressor (which is what you see on factory SBR barrels). I wonder if we will ever see a SOCOM762-RC on a military Mk17....

Here's a pic of an actual SF Mk17 with the SCAR-H SSD:

I actually really like the girth and it feels perfect to me.  The only thing I'm questioning is the weight.  I'm trying to decide what is throwing off the balance of it for me.  I'm still getting used to it though

Is that 11.5"?  Looks nice.

Cheers

Adco cut it down to 10.5". Hopefully I'll run it this weekend

Must be the angle as it looks longer than 10.5", however I remembered that mine is 10.0".

Cheers

agree with buddy

A old pic:

ETA: I'm thinking about having Steve at Adco, chop it to 14" and blind pin the SF3P.

Do it... the 16 inch scar barrel on a 5.56 has always looked a little odd to me... the only thing cooler than a 14.5 inch scar is a 10 inch scar... just got my stamp back via efile... gonna cut it when I get back from AFG...  and great looking rifle with a very cool set up!

Nice rifles!  How do you like the piggybacked micro on the Mk6?  I'm having an internal debate between piggybacked micro or the LaRue offset on my 17s with nightforce 2.5-10x32....

I like it but the problem I have the the MK8 in the GDI mound w/Aimpoint on this rifle is that it is heavy as f***. I'm thinking about taking it off and Running my 3.5x ACOG just to shed a few LBS. Its a fast set up but just to heavy for this small of a gun.
