~1700 rounds, including Tula. Removed the stock side rails to slim it down (never used them since I installed the PWS). Went full retard with some paint pens & filled the numbers on the stock and LRA (H&K style).

Took some photos for Santa Cruz Gunlocks:

Wow, I really like the look of that. Not all the stuff hanging off it, but the slick sides of the receiver minus the unnecessary rails. Can you take a few close ups of this please? I'm interested to see how you filled the rail attachment holes and how the front barrel screw is retained. Nice work though!

Easy - Just went to True Value with the URA, and hand-fitted shorter button head torx screws & washers to replace the rail & barrel hardware.

Weight's not an issue - 2.5lbs LESS than my former-duty (now a safe queen) AR. I went with Travis Haley's old setup he had on one of his ARs; two lights (200Lm & 600Lm), a LASER, Aimpoint H1. Works damn well on mids; the lights are the shizzle for felony car stops.

Noyce.

You're gonna want to cover those holes uncovered from the removal of the side rails; the rear ones also secure the side rail block.

You gotta plug those dirt intakes with something.

I used button head Torx screws & stainless washers.

I'm toying with the idea of using cut panels of rubber non-skid tape, but I have reservations about the adhesive holding up under the heat...

BTW, the POS Aimpoint LASER (AKA universal translator) will be replaced by something more appropriate, along with some more Larue goodness, as soon as Brownyclause arrives.

...and I'm working on getting a can - Chief already gave the green light on using personally-owned gear.

I use to have a SCAR that looked like this:

Then the bolt started to beat its self up and it looked like this:

So a call to FN and it looked like this for close to 3 months:

Then FN sent me a new rifle!

However, that ones top rail wouldn't securely hold the Larue mount seen on the above rifle. The mount worked fine on 17 other rail surfaces I mounted it on, but not the rifles top rail...the one that matters. Even with the mount's adjustment nut tightened up all the way so the lever could not be opened there was still significant play. Now my rifle looks like this again:

I just hope FN makes it right this time. I really liked the rifle, but as you can imagine I'm somewhat less than thrilled with their QC.

ETA: Out of the 9 months of owning a SCAR it's just been a webpage to me for 4 months.

No, with modded PMags there wasn't a problem. Besides I only shot a hand full of rounds out of my SCAR from a PMag. The dings on the bolt were there before I ever used a PMag. Once the bolt was starting to beat its self up I tried PMags. There was no difference. In all I probably shot less than 400 rounds out of the rifle.

When I would take the original rifle, remove the lower receiver and push up on the bolt carrier group and move the bolt carrier group back and forth, the bolt would hit the barrel extension. Regardless of what magazine is used in any gun, the top round in the magazine will have some upward pressure on the bolt carrier / slide. I'm sure if it was the magazines, they wouldn't have replaced the whole rifle and just replaced the bolt.

It's easy to blame everything on PMags, and unmodified ones will mess up your bolt catch. When I used modded PMags in my 2nd rifle there were no bolt strike problems. It's just my optic mount would move back and forth on the rail. That's hard on the optic (Aimpoint), the rail and the mount.

I like the SCAR, but it sucks getting 2 Friday afternoon guns.
