Does the BCG in a 9mm have the full skirt to trip the sear? We are looking at building a couple 9mm ar's with auto sears, but don't have much experience with them.

I know that a JP 9mm bolt does.

Thank you, have you built one before?

You can buy them either way - cut for semi auto, or intact for full auto.  Most come in full auto configuration nowadays.

Unless you are building an exotic gas-operated 9mm, you will find that there is no "carrier" involved, as the typical blowback-operated 9mm bolt is one solid piece.  As far as I know, they all come with the tripping surface intact and mostly come "ramped" to avoid damage to the trigger pins.  That makes life easy.

I've never seen a 9mm AR bolt that did not have the shelf to trip a sear.  There may be some but I've never seen one and I've been shooting the M16/9 platform since 1999.

Like others have said above, get a 'ramped' bolt.  You'll be glad you did.

I don'r know about their 9 mm set up, but for the Olympic Arms (OA) proprietary system in .45 ACP, the full auto carrier has to be special ordered and OA requires you to furnish proof that you have a registered M16.

MHO, YMMV, et cetera.

Same for all of Olympic's blowback bolts.  I have a semi Oly 9 which I had modified for use with a lightning link, and later ordered a full auto for use with my sear lowers.
