Just sold a few machineguns, and am now in the market for an M16.  Problem is I have found 2 that I feel comfortable with the people and the price.
First a 614 in 98% for $18k and second a m16 with normal wear about 85-90% for $19750.  My question, is it worth the extra 2k for the receiver to say m16 or which way would you go?
Thanks, jonathan

I'd go with the 614.  Its still factory Colt, in better shape and less money.

M16 for sure. I assume it's an M16 stamped M16 A1?

M16 has cool factor because it's an M16. Also, the M16 is priced below market value. I'd be very careful and verify the gun and buyer, as that price is a bit too low. Although, M16s have taken a price dive lately. Brand new A2s are selling for $30,000 now, whereas a year ago, Ruben was asking $39,000.

I don't care either way, just wandering if it's worth the extra money for the m16 considering they are both below market value. It's marked m16 not a1 or a2

I had a SP1 and it was spot on reliable etc but just had to have one that said M16 on the side. I vote M16.

I always buy based on condition.  In this case, you have better condition and less money with the 614.  Rollmark means something to some folks, but M16 isn't as desirable as M16A1 (or A2 of course!), so I wouldn't pay the premium for it.  I actually like the "AR-15" rollmark on the 614, makes the gun a little more low profile...until I flip the selector all the way back.

If you're a collector go with m16.

If you're a shooter go with the 614.

Or even better yet go with a oly arms if you really want a rifle you aren't afraid to use.

I had an SP1 and she ran just the same as my M16A2. save the money and get some cool uppers and AMMO!!!!

If you are in this game for collecing purposes only, then the M16. If you want to actually have fun, spend less, get more cool stuff and AMMO.
