I need some guidance from you guys on where to ask for advice. I bought an M16 which was advertised as a safe queen and never shot, but it arrived today and it was poorly retouched (the paint came off on my fingers) and it was clearly used - more so than any of my own ARs which see decent use.

I'd like to give the details and ask for advice, but I don't want to do it in the wrong forum. Is this the right place?

Thanks in advance!

Wow, that's awful to hear

Have you contacted the seller/dealer?  What did they say?

Always best to work it out privately with the seller before opening it to the public. Nothing will sour the discussion faster.

Did you pay "safe queen" price of did you get a deal?  If it's just the finish, it's totally fixable and inexpensive.

Never shot does not mean NIB.

I own lots of guns I've never shot but are not NIB.

not knowing more details, just keep in mind the state of AR-15s in 1986 and before was pretty much in the dark ages except for Colt...  so even a mint gun might not look so hot by modern standards.
