A couple more Beta mag dumps and you'll have a DIY pig tail gas tube! See if you can get it to wrap itself around the barrel.
Seriously though, that can't be good. It's thin wall tubing to begin with and you just made it a little thinner in that spot.. |

It means you've been doing too many mag dumps without letting the barrel cool. The gas tube functions like a fuse –– in most cases, it will melt before the barrel is damaged.
So if it's sagging, you're most of the way there. Another dump or two and it will rupture, and the gun will become a bolt action.
BTW, I hope it's not on an LMG upper. Those gas tubes are made of unobtainium. |

Does it look like the picture below? That was a gas tube I melted last year. Just a few weeks ago I melted another one but was not touching the barrel. Reminds me I need to order a couple more LOL

AFAIK, no one has designed a stronger one ... because that would just transfer stress to the barrel, which is much more expensive and difficult to replace. If you want to do multiple mag dumps, buy a selection of beater uppers, and when you plan a range session, take at least three or four of them, and rotate them every 3-4 30-round mags or every Betamag or two. That way, they will get a chance to cool before you shoot them again. Or else, buy gas tubes by the dozen, and get used to swapping them out.

Gas tubes are a good item to keep in the range bag if you use a Beta mag very often

I think he put locktight on the threads too, I had to heat and beat the lock ring to get it out. The roll pin that holds in the tube was 75% out of the FSB |

Get some 1/4" no seam ss hydro line from mcmaster carr (you can get the one with high temp/corrosion/pressure rating). Turn the ends down and you have a LMG gas tube.
I had a handful done a few years ago, (mid/carbine/rifle). You will not melt it. |
