Well .... it looks pretty good, but I'm wary of DOE uppers with front sling swivels. When Colt shipped complete DOEs they had them, but when they later sold off the remaining uppers without lowers, the sling swivels were missing (typical Colt was out of them on the week they assembled them from remaining parts in stock).
So that's either (a) an upper removed from a complete gun; (b) an upper sold without swivel, and a later owner added one; or (c) a clone. The pic does appear to have proof stamps in from of the port door, and if so, that would indicate it came off a complete gun. Which would make it a very, very rare item, because Colt only sold a couple of hundred complete guns ... and (as the name indicates) almost all of those went to the DOE, where they were ridden hard and put away wet. You figure out what it means. ![]() |
