I thought A1 was slab side without reinforcement (?)
Also, why no A1 marking? Reason I'm asking is that I mailed the check for this one yesterday. |

Reinforcements refers to beefed up front hinge and rear receiver ring areas seen on most A2s
Magwell fences are another animal. Here's a thread illustrating partial vs full fences: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_23/314683_M16_vs_M16A1.html Almost all transferable M16s (604) are full fence, and not distinguishable from the longer production run 603s (M16A1). I have one of each, both 9 mil SN guns. I can't tell them apart except for the rollstamp. 603s are more numerous, if that matters. Slabside refers to uppers lacking the forward assist. Sounds like you bought a M16 rollmarked 604. Congrats! Sam |

My mind went to uppers b/c I did not think any M16 stamped receivers completely lacked fences. Or is this incorrect? Sam |

Funny, but I'd still like to know if there are any completely "fence-less" receivers stamped M16? I suspect not, but don't know for sure.
I suppose if you ground off the fence on a RR it would be..........."off-fence-ive"........
