Sort-of Old School (circa ’02) Colt M4 Carbine machinegun

Ok:

Proof of it being an M16A1:

It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.

Ok so this thread was an inspiration and I haven't seen any new posts for a couple months, so I took a quick photo and here is my piggy bank savings.
It originally came with a 14.5" barrel which I took off and replaced with a 10.3" Colt barrel. I am building another upper with the 14.5. ALL Colt and a lot of fun. Finish is excellent and it shoots great.

Looks great! Good on you for not bastardizing the lower receiver with KNS pins and Magpul stuff.

I like many others that use KNS pins, realize that we are protecting these M16's for future generations. If you are going to shoot it, use KNS pins, it's CHEAP insurance!!!

I don't own an M16 (hope to someday), but if I did, I personally wouldn't shoot it enough to justify them.

Well, excuuuuse me, and thank you –– as a non-M16 owner –– for telling us actual M16 owners how we should maintain our M16s. Forgive me if I do not follow your instructions.

I do happen to own them –– the one I currently own for the longest time, I purchased in 1994, and in the 17 years since then, I have put at least 3 to 4k rounds through it, each and every year. Let's see, that's 51,000 to 68,000 rounds through it. And yes, I have used KNS pins since the '90s. I bought it as a 99% ANIB Colt factory M16A1, and now ... 51k to 68k later ... it is a 96% original-finish factory M16A1.

BTW, I know that when I am lying there taking my last breath, I will not be thinking, "Oh! I wish I had not been so hard on my M16." Instead, what I'll be screaming to St. Pete is, "Don't take me yet! Let me dump one more Betamag through the '16! Or two Betas! Or more!"

Here's a pic of my "beat-to-crap, original-finish M16A1 ... with those ugly KNS pins" and my DOE upper, one of more than a dozen uppers I have used over the decades I've owned my baby:

Yes, it has KNS pins. And it has a Magpul grip, which fits my hand better than Stoner's one-size-fits-all original.

Your Mileage May Vary.

I just put this 7.5" blaster upper together for mine tonight.

If you realy want to own full auto weapons that bad join the military become and armorer ( so you know what you are doing), retire after 20 years pay about $1500, for licenses and class 2 SOT, rent a building and shell out a couple thousand dollars for inventory and become a machine gun manufacturer. Then you can own all the NFA you want. BTW the police dept and the MIL defend us so I dont mind paying taxes so that they can keep us safe at night. Back to the M16 pics I was enjoying them I will post mine when complete. I just got my class 2 SOT looks like its M16 time

Gotta love this country. Law Enforcement is exempt from unconstitutional NFA laws AND those citizen taxpayers whose rights are infringed, get to flip the bill for the post 86 firearm the citizen taxpayer could never legally own. Makes your stomach turn. Something has gotta change, quickly.

Always some begrudging person like you to come along and post a snide remark. While I understand where your coming from and I would love for everyone on this forum, myself included, to be able to purchase a FA, I don't see it happening anytime soon. That being said, I'm out every night along with thousands of other officers across the country, trying to make our cities a better place for people like you to live. Does it really irritate you that bad that we are allowed to carry something that you don't own or can run down to the LGS to purchase? Since you nor I can buy a FA as a personal weapon should all LEO's be relegated to carrying only semis? We might want to apply this good idea to the military too, let's take their FA's as well while were at it.

Amen

I sure didn't expect a snappy response like that from a moderator. I said nothing offensive to no one, so there was no reason for you to reply to something that wasn't even directed towards you with an ill-mannered post.

And, yes, my methods do vary. And congratulations on your M16 ownership. I bet you feel very special.
