Quite some time ago (15+years), I bought some mags for my M11. They were actually
surplus mags from some other smg that were modified by cutting a small notch
on the back so that they would work with the M-11.  Does anyone know what they were
originally for?   I can't get a picture posted here but I can send one to anyone that can
help. Thanks.

Probably the Argentinian PAM-2.

2006-3 Converting Argentinian PAM-2 Mags to fit M-11 SMG

Recon Ordnance sold a bunch of them.

You could probably get new springs for the ones you have from Wolff.

These guys have some kind of MAC mag

I'd call him up and ask if his will work with your specific firearm, I know he was very knowledgeable about .22 conversion magazines of different production and would recommend stuff based on your needs even if he didn't carry the specific product at the time.

Thanks for the info.  I am trying to figure out what
all firearms they work in. I came across a bunch of
them while cleaning out my safe.

The PAM2 mags have 2 issues.....

You can't use the original sliding stock due to the magazines width, and without a stop, they can be over-inserted....possibly bending your ejector rod....

here is what they were originally manufactured to fit:

As noted, the PAM-2 is one possibility.

The other is the Madsen M-50 magazine. For those, you need to cut a catch in the rear rib as well as to press flat or grind out the Madsen's catch on the front of the mag. They fit a little sloppy in the M11/9 magwell, but still run fine.  C&S Metal Werkes converted a bunch of them, back in the day.

I don't know if the OP was also looking for new mags for his M11-nine, but in case he was, Shockwave Z-mags are the go to for new mags.

Those mags won't fit in a M11-nine. Sten mags can be hacked to work in the Lage MAX-31 upper.
