Many say these are not to be trusted but I know of one for sale.
Owner says it runs just fine.
Any idea of value ?

I want to say $9k if a full on WH.  Add more if if it has a lot of USGI parts and runs well.  $16k max?

WH M-1's were only manufactured in 1985-86

There was a 1928 WH that went at Auction last week for $18K. Ruben lists 1928 WHs for around the same price, David Spiwak slightly lower in the high 16 to low 17 range.

The M1s don't seem to command as much of a premium as the 1928 version and there has been a nice condition WH M1 for sale on Sturm by a dealer out of Dallas for a couple weeks, listed at $15K.

I would speculate that a M1 West Hurley pricing is as follows

$11K or less is a sell in a couple days
$11K to 13K sell in a week
$13K to 16K sell in a couple of weeks to a month or more.
Greater than 17K you are looking at somebody who doesn't really want to sell.

I think $12 to $13K would be a fair deal for the buyer and seller.

Could be.

There has been a dealer in Dallas  sitting on one going on two weeks now at $15K.

http://www.sturmgewehr.com/webBBS/nfa4sale.cgi?read=175271

Sell it now price to me is somewhere south of $15K based on no takers for his gun.  Buying from  a dealer vs. an individual is worth at least a grand in piece of mind.

Maybe 13 to 14K.  Any more than that and you could just buy the gun in the ad.

i think it would be tough to afford  Mac 10 let alone a Thompson selling plasma. Whats the going rate, $50 per donation, once a week max?

I have been very lucky with the MGs I bought. I bought 11 or so (Mac 11s) from one guy for an avgerage of $2400 in 2012..

I have been trying to figure out a way to get a Thompson without selling my car. I bought a Mustang fastback over a Thomspon and now i want a thompson and my car, ha.
I might look into what you wrote with blood plasma. See if I can put away 2k a yr extra and maybe in 3 yrs be able to start looking for one, unless I cna get a loan for a SMG ha

Cut cable and go with a over the air antenna, I have like 40+ channels and share a Netflix and Hulu account with a friend. Save close to $100 a month and I have more than enough to watch.

Let's see, a USGI Thompson is going to run at least $22,000.

So you'll have enough money to buy the gun in 18 years by saving $100 a month on cable bills.

There has been a long plateau in the prices but it's not going to last

generally it doesn't pay to wait around when buying an NFA gun

the value of MACs and UZIs doubled in only two years

factory colt m16s went from around $18k to around $23k over the same period

I wasent trying to say cutting cable alone will get you a MG, obviously you will need to do more than that.

But I do agree its not a good idea to wait, they are going up at a rapid pace and if they continue at the rate they have in the past decade they will likely out run most peoples ability to slowly save for a future purchase.

Yeah, I was just goofing around a little

My advice to everyone reading this BUY NOW

This lull in the market is not going to last, it never has.

I'd say that the ability to slowly save for a MG is long gone for most people.  I think I do fairly well financially and it took damn near a global financial meltdown to stall prices long enough for me to catch up grab a few.  Fronting the money through some other means (e.g. 401(k) or credit card loan) and slowly paying that off is the reality for most people who don't have the money already saved.

I have a Bridgeport M1A1 that needs a new barrel and refinished (someone put a finned barrel on it and had it nickeld at some point ) that I'd posted on Sturm for $21 and got one nibble but that was at least 6 months ago. I'm going to get it all restored with USGI parts and try again but honestly I'd still think $22 might be the high side for even an original M1.
