My BAR finally showed up, and I love this thing!  Very glad to have this!  Going to try it out this weekend with the slow and fast full auto modes that it has.

I know it's not all original, but I like the A2 style more than the older style, and the fact they built it on an old Colt receiver just adds to it's cool factor ( to me at least ).

I was wondering, what do these couple markings on it mean?  I assume it was converted to an A2 in the 50s by the barrel date?  Also, the BA4 stamp on the side, I have seen before, but don't know what it means.

Anyways, just curious to hear what you guys think, and if any of you recognize these markings.  Thank you!

Is this the one I saw on NFA GUNS?  If not that's 2 converted A2's that look fantastic.

Transferable or sample? I need to get a BAR in honor of my grandfather who fought in Burma during WW2 with one.

To answer your questions, yes this was the gun from NFASales, and it is a pre 86' dealer sample.  When I became a dealer I said "I won't buy pre 86' dealer samples.  I own enough transferables, and that's all I want to own."  I also had zero interest in a BAR or an MG34.  Well, now I have a pre 86' sample MG34 and a pre 86' sample BAR.  Good deals on guns that I have come to now really like, and I'm glad that I own both of them.

Absolutely beautiful! A book that you will want to get if you are a history junky on them like myself is "Rock in a Hard Place: The Browning Automatic Rifle" by James L Ballou. It is the most authoritative publication I am aware of. The next expenditure with the BAR is all the accessories!

I kinda like the BAR, but the British Bren gun is a lot more fun to shoot!
Both my BARs are Korean War guns, made in 53.  The Bren is a Mk I made in 43 I think.
I am also a class3 and are all Pre 86 samples.
Sarge

Well, I have not been on here for quite a while and do not see a way to post photos.

Cool.  After a mint 1921 Colt Thompson, then a 1910 C&R Russian Maxim, then a C&R Jap 99, I want to start looking for a Bren.  It never ends! haha
