Found an old violin case. Completely gutted the inside of the case. Relined the inside to a custom fit for a Thompson.

My goal was to build a smaller lighter case with just enough for a range trip. What you see plus another stick mag or two is all I need. No drums, spare parts or cleaning kit ect.

nice

when I lived in jersey just before the assualt weapons ban, I used to carry my M-i carbine around in a old guitar case.  My neighbor the chief of police would sit on the porch and wave saying have fun at practice,   little did he know

I've made a Thompson case using a violin case I bought new for about $60 on ebay.

What a lot of people don't realize is the weight of a Thompson, a loaded drum, etc., compared to that of a violin. The case needs to be reinforced (I used internal wooden partitions) -- but then, the weak point will be the handle and its attachments. Such a case, therefore, is more for display than for actual carrying of the gun. Even for FBI-type cases, the handle is the weak link. Best to carry all such cases by the bottom than by the handle.

That is a nicely crafted, beautiful looking case, with a logical and efficient layout of the various compartments.  Great work, sir; I would be proud of that one.

Roger Small, when he owned Automatic Weaponry in Nashville, TN., put out a bunch of violin cases fitted for Thompsons. They were really nice set ups.
