Buy a Remington 870 pump, find the " birds head grip " in wood, as well as the pump. Send off a form one with the measurements of what the barrel will be, as well as the total length. Wait for the stamp, once it arrives send off the barrel to ADCO. DONE !

What front sight is that?

Looks like a Trijicon tritium front sight.

The "bird's head" looks like it was carved out of a conventional buttstock, which would be something to do while waiting for the Form 1 to come back.  They also used to be available in black polymer and might still be around.

Speedfeed makes the poly grips.  Is there a source for the wood grips?  I would like to blue mine and put on wood stocks to make it look more retro.

There is not a source I am aware of.  I was thinking of doing the same thing as far as bluing goes.

I have a Meprolite on mine that looks identical to that.  It's ~$25 from Brownells.

I am in the process of making one right now.

I should have my paperwork back in about 3 month. I went with plastic furniture instead of wood.

If made from an existing shotgun, it's an SBS.  If you somehow acquired a never-before-built receiver, it could be constructed as either an AOW or an SBS depending on your preference and whether you'd ever want to put a stock on it at some time in the future.

I would try contacting Profire Arms and Supply in Indy, IN. They make several different class 3 items including 870 variants.

I have been trying to find a wooden set of stocks for quite some time now.  They pop up every now and then, but I always seem to miss them.  I have a polymer set, but would prefer the other...
